Unboxed my new 7970 AND.........

^
I'm of the opinion as long as it works...:D
As long as the item i bought doesn't move whilst in transit, and works once installed i'm not too fussed if it comes in foam, static bags sealed or unsealed.

If it's broke, send it back and try again.

The bag has always been sealed with a security sticker and this gives me peace of mind that what I am buying is new.

Whilst I agree that the foam is anti static, it wouldn't give me that same peace of mind.

Totally agree with this

This reason would make me choose one manufacturer over another TBH

Typical! OCUK have been spot on and should no fault be found then its DRA anywhoo but now they out of stock :( I was gonna just pull the trigger on the gigabyte version but I have heard they noisy as hell.My other choice was the MSI ref model but it seems that they not getting good press on a whole as a company.Oh,what to do

If i remember correctly, my £400 ASUS 7970 Matrix Platinum didn't have a bag, but was wedge in some anti-static foam.
Also, the box wasn't sealed.

Very much doubt you would get a used card, unless you are in fact buying a B-Grade.

Honestly never had a problem with MSI GPU's, my last few have all been MSI. *shrug*

End of the day there will always be dodgy cards/batches.

I've had cards die from EVGA, Sapphire, Inno3d, Gainward, and Gigabyte. Does that mean they are all crap as well?

What made me suspect it even more was the fact mine was the last one in stock as well. Now please do not have a go at me for saying this but I have had this problem before with other retailers where they take your order, realise they do not have one left and take the chance sending you a return instead. I am saying it SEEMED like this happened, not this DID happen. Obviously I trust OCUK as I have bought £1000's of pounds worth of gear from them over the last 4-5 years.

I did contact HIS and ask about the bag situation (for clarity) and they informed me they no longer do this and the anti static foam is all they use.

As for the card, very disappointed for you and hopefully the exchange will be swift. Stick with HIS, as they are good, quiet coolers and the next card should be fine.

I trust you've connected customer support?
Just so they can assure you the card was new and was DOA....

I've bought a last in stock item before, I got an email telling me there was a mix up in the warehouse and would I mind changing order or waiting...

I didnt think about the dual bios thing! To be honest though if I am paying £350 I want both them to work. To keep it the same as my ref model I was gonna flash one bios to the ghz bios so I want 2 really.Good call though :)
