Uncle Problem.

I have the same problem but with old people in my street, I have been to 4 different homes sorting out computer problems, only one of them gave me any money, I just make excuses not to help them now.

Your Uncle Right is taking advantage.

Buy one of these and wear it.

There has been a word assigned in the dictionary for this. Hmm i think it's NO.

My dad isn't too bad, he can switch it on and is quite happy to sit on the internet without too much problem. Only get problems when he hits a shortcut key and loses the favourites toolbar

God sake can you stop typing brought, your 16 surely you've had English lessons.

Urgh! You haven't listened to your English teachers either!

You're not your!

*rages to self*

Brought instead of bought is much worse though. :p

Also, to Nabil, I'd start being extremely vague about when you're available.

I've got an uncle, who I don't speak to as he's on the 'backward' side of the family.

Anyway, having not spoken to him for years, he randomly turns up at my house asking me if I can show him how to use his PC and help him with a few other things.

I just said 'oh, erm, yeah, I'll try and see if I can come over when I'm not busy, but I've got a lot of work to do so I don't know when that will be'.

Haven't seen him since, this was over a year ago now. :p

Just tell him that you're trying to make a business out of it so you'll have to charge him a rate, or just tell him you can't because you're busy.

After a while, he'll take responsibility for himself and do things for himself.

Easiest solution: Teach him how to install programs.
Best solution: Wing it? ;)

I left it far too late to ninja edit it :( but still! how come so many people type brought rather than bought, it boggles the mind.

Also: your / you're!

Now i have an uncle right, he usually gives me a fiver for a hour/two hour job. i dont really have a problem with that, the problem i have is how much he calls me and what the reasons are.

Now im 16 years old, im pretty sure he does it to take advantage, im not sure but whatever.

Maybe he is just waiting for the right opportunity to bounce you on his knee;)

ye , doing absolutely nothing but getting dragged down his house, about 20-25 minutes, every day, pays me rarely btw, not eveerytime. and its a headache, HE DOESNT EVEN TRY.

So why the **** are you doing it you numpty... are you scared of refusing him or something?

Not sure if this makes a difference but what cultural background are you from? If you are from good old anglo-saxon, stuff the relatives, christenings weddings funerals stock it is much easier to deal with this than if you are from a much more family oriented cultural base.

The bottom line is that this uncle has no respect for you or your time. You need to put a few cards up in Newsagents windows advertising your services at a reasonable rate - say £25 per hour. (You don't actually have to take any work). Then as a concession to your uncle because he is family tell him he can have your time at a discounted rate of £15 per hour. Then you must be stop being a gutless wonder and stand up for yourself. :)

I predict he will quickly leave you alone.
