Under-rated bands...

Miocene should have destroyed the music business.

Iron Monkey should have destroyed humanity.

RIP little buddies.

Shed 7 were underrated in my opinion, one of the best British bands of the 90s

Quoted for the undeniable and absolute truth. One Hand Clapping (series of demos destined to be the next studio album, and released at the demand of the fans) was one of the best albums of 2005. I rate it as an album that I will still play alongside the likes of Abbey Road in twenty years time.

Third Eye Blind - Everyone knows Semi-charmed Life, but that's probably not even in their top10 tracks. I guess they are regarded as a one-hit wonder with a Spin Doctors sound, when in reality they made quite a diverse range of different, quality songs.

And again, spot on. I prefer their debut album to anything that followed but Semi-charmed Life is definitely the song that expresses their talent least. Some of their lyrics are quite superb.

Supergrass were another band that never really seemed to enjoy the success they should have.

 I was about to mention Skunk Anansie and Shed Seven...awesome stuff.

Quicksand

First time I've seen Quicksand mentioned here. Got into them after finding the origins of Rival Schools - awesome band :D

Refused are still unappreciated in that people only really know 'New Noise' and haven't heard how ******* amazing they were live.

The Bronx are an amazingly underrated punk band from the US - about to drop their next record. (www.myspace.com/thebronx)

I'd also say Billy Talent are hugely underrated - extremely tight and explosive live and very well written lyrics. Seemingly underrated because they're catchy.

I also don't see Far, New End Original or Gratitude mentioned much anywhere...

Idlewild got UBER exposure 6-8 years ago.

My vote's for Skunk Anansie - one of the best British Rock 'n' Roll bands Ev0r.

Yeah I will agree with you on both of your points there, Idlewild were actually everywhere a few yrs ago, these wooden ideas was a major hit for them iirc.

Skunk anansie are amazing tho.

Counting Corws get my vote. Sure they get a bit of airplay in the US, and had a big hit with their cover of Big Yellow Taxi a couple of years ago, and had the title track in Shrek 2 (Accidentally In Love) - but these songs are far from their best, and are only really the mass-appeal breadwinners amongst Adam Duritz's reportoire

I rather like The Avalanches and thought they were just on the edge of something big.
They had that nomination for "Best Newcomer" in some award ceremony, which they didn't get and they seem to have vanished...

I bring to the table:

Easyworld.

Fantastic band, should have been massive.

Good call. Their first album was great and I really thought their second album would break them, not make them break up.

Radiohead - some may say overrated, however so many people dont even try to listen to their music, they underrate them as just depressing, which simply isnt the case!

About a month ago I "re-introduced myself" to OK Computer.
It was an album I was never really impressed with, however I've listened to it more over the past few weeks than I ever did the first time around and I now rate the album a whole lot higher than I did in the first place.

Yeah. Basically, Jonah should be huge. He's a pop genius.
He's also got a massive ego, hence Gratitude imploding after one album because, as with his other projects, it became "Jonah Matranga and..."

The Goo Goo Dolls - slightly strange choice this, as they are quite famous on the world/internet stage. But ask your average man in the street in Britain to name more than a couple of their tracks and he will struggle. That's quite shocking for a band that has been around as long and made so many good records.
Agreed.

I'd asked a few people and they were like who? :\

idlewild, great band.

But I have to say I love their older stuff. 100 Broken Windows is a great album but after that they started to sound different. Still good to listen to but lack something which their older stuff had. *if you get me.

Another Under-rated band...

My Vitriol
Their debut and only album 'Finelines' is an amazing album.

I've met him more than a few times and I've never found this to be true. Gratitude stopped because Mark didn't really want the songs to be played without him being the band, since he played a big part in writing them. Him and Jonah never could come an agreement, so they just stopped it since Mark had left to spend time with his family.

It's only just after Gratitude has Jonah decided to start using his own name. He always said that before, he felt uncomfortable with using his own name.
