Was about to play one more but says it over :(

Good game, graphics could be better, certainly does not look no way near as good as pictures. Gameplay seems good, but felt hard to get a knockout.

I would buy it if £30 or so on CDKeys.

So having played around 10 games on the beta, here are my thoughts:

Movement is good, there is a real fluidly in the way the boxers move, and the change in body language when they move is very impressive.

There is still a slight magnetism of the boxers which naturally draws them closer, so its good when you want to fight on the inside, but if you want to box on the outside, it’s a little harder, so a little bit more fluidity would be nice to create the space.

With the extra freedom of movement, I have had two opponents try and run in the later rounds, and it was really satisfying cutting off the ring, something you couldn’t really do in Fight Night.

In my final match, I realised that you could inch towards your opponent to create the perfect distance which was satisfying, as the other players would just be holding the left stick at full motion to move, it looked quite intimidating when inching forward and I just hope more players pick up on it, rather than just rushing in, as you can both create the ideal distance to land clean jabs, and makes for a more tactical fight, and looks way more realistic.

The first few fights were a little button mashy, but the more you played, the more you started to see the nuanced things they are trying to introduce.

The blocking system was very impressive, you could lean and block, and depending on where you lean, you block certain parts of your body, so I was able to start blocking specific punches towards the end.

I started to experiment with taking the first 4 round easy, trying to steal one round, letting the opponent punch themselves out and seeing if I could take them into deep water.

Rounds 5-8, I had managed to save a lot of my stamina, and then I started ripping their body with loaded up hooks, and you could really start to see the affects towards the end of the fight, so that was quite impressive.

I think I read something on Twitter or Reddit that they tuned down the damage and increased stamina to ensure that the games went to 8 round and that we had more time playing, so I hope in the final release the damage is higher and stamina is less.

When you do land a clean punch it is satisfying, and there were times where I was able to land some power counter jabs which stopped them in their tracks, so I’m looking for more of the same feeling, as currently they punches don’t really feel that impactful, unless you hit them clean on the counter.

Fighter cuts are impressive, with Gati prone to cuts, and my friend reported that at one point the referee came over in between rounds to look at the cut, so it does look like fights can be stopped if you’re cut too much!

Overall, I’m very impressed with the gameplay so far, and I do have high hopes for the next beta and final release.

In terms of performance, I managed to get a locked 60fps at 1440p with high settings on an i7 9700, 6700xt and 32gb ram.

For those interesting in how it performs on the steam deck, at low medium/low settings, I was getting around 18-20fps.

I managed over 100fps maxed out at 3440x1440p (see sig for specs). But I found there was nothing special about the graphics at all. For a game that will be out in 2023 looks like a game from 2015 or something. The graphics in the pictures in steam look much better. Hopefully they will improve for release.

Had a few matches last night. Quite enjoyed it. Won every match except for the first one against CPU where I was winning and just before the match was about to go to the scorecard I got KO'd

After that went online and won by both scorecard and by ko. Much preferred the heavy weights where you feel the extra power. In light weight I felt it was harder to get a knock out.

Overall pleased. They will obviously keep working and tweaking it and adding extra modes. A bit barebones right now but I am more than happy with the purchase.

I got it last night but was still building my pc so haven’t had a chance to play it yet, but this sounds positive.

To be honest it should be harder to get a KO at the lighter weights, it is IRL, whereas it only takes one punch at heavy

Yep. Makes sense. I think I will be playing heavy weight a lot more. Was fun playing as Tyson Fury. Man has huge reach.

Just glad we finally have a proper boxing game on PC. People leaving negative feedback on steam need to chill. It is early access. Plus it won't be for everyone.

Picked this up as something to play from the sofa whilst the rest of the house gets renovated. Initial impressions are that it's ok as far as early access goes, the roster seems decent enough at this stage with some faces I didn't expect/haven't seen in past games (Nigel Benn yes!) with them seemingly displaying the same characteristics in terms of movement/stances.

I do find it to feel a bit stiff at times, especially when in the later rounds or on lower stamina, almost like you are limited by the animations, hard to put a finger on it. There was one moment in a fight where that was definitely the case though, the opponent was taking a gradual step back and I wanted to do a step forward into a jab, but each time I tried the step forward animation was cancelled out by the jab, so I just stood in place throwing into empty space rather than moving forward with the punch.

The knockdowns feel like they lack punch/impact (pardon the pun), the stiffness doesn't help either as it never feels like you can follow up too much like in the old fight night games.

It's nearly there though in terms of feel, some definite potential with a bit of tweaking. It feels like ages since we've had a good boxing game so I hope this can improve and do well.
