Well im looking forward to a long night of work! Ive got a presentation to write up for my 'group' which has to be presented tomorrow but i know that the only way that it'll get finished is if i pull an all nighter and do it myself! What a cheek!

What methods have you got for staying alert up until the presentation (11am)? Im drinking a lot of water which is supposed to help?

Also, have you got any tips for the presentation as im petrified of public speaking, hence why im pretty much writing the presentation myself, so i have a bit of confidence.

So far ive thought of:
- Handouts for others there (about 20 people) to try and keep their eyes off me!
- Cue cards

Subject is Business Management if that makes any difference?

Cheers

Rob :D

Pace any caffeine intake carefully, otherwise you'll crash before you start the presentation. Best thing to do is probably not have any until as late as possible, and then hit it fairly hard to give you the boost right before the presentation.

The 6am-9am period is HORRIBLE, the real downer happens at dawn, so don't go "have a rest" because you'll start hibernating before you know it. After that time it generally gets ok. As long as you haven't been awake for three days, you're only generally as tired as you think you are, so pep yourself up and act energetic, and realise that if you had woken up at 10am the day before you will have been awake for 25 hours instead of the normal 16 or so... Not that much more than normal, really.

Well this is where my situation worsens...

Espresso - i dont like coffee!
Water - I can just about cope with drinking water
Food - I have none, i am owed money but that hasnt turned up meaning i have no money to buy food (£4 to my name currently). That coupled with the fact i *accidently* flooded the kitchen this morning meaning i had to throw awy my bread etc.

:( uni life isn't so fun :(

PS. Ive had about 3 hours sleep in the last 2 days because ive been worrying myself stupid about my money situation :(

PPS. OOOh i have supernoodles (donated by a kind flat mate!)

I've survived every essay and presentation I have this year via last minute all nighters...I tend to pick up around 6am, keep my curtains open and the light outside picks me up in to the mood of "This is due today. GO."

Proplus and coffee for me, but then, I have weird sleeping habits and can wake up and nod off pretty much any time, which helps massively...

Last uni work for the year went in last week, last semester exams yesterday, so a month off til degree exams start...Tonight's just been a celebration, not the eccentric sleeping pattern keeping me up :p

Up at 5:45am off to work now :)

Good luck on your presentation, don't let your eyes have a quick rest, I've done that before.

"I'll just rest my eyes for a minute ... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz [deadline] zzzzzzzzzzzzzz" :(

Cheers buddy :)

Im bricking it!

If your drinking a lot of water make sure you go to the toilet before you go into the presentation. Before you get up, take a couple of deep breaths in and let them out slowly to help slow your heart rate, which if your anything like me will be going like the clappers.

Don't read from a script, you can have one there in case you get lost but try to use prompt cards instead. Also remember to make eye contact with the people your giving the presentation to and speak clearly (I find I start to speak quicker when I'm nervous and start tripping over my words) and try to keep things as short as possible without skipping anything important.

Good luck

I've done all I can be bothered to do on this assignment lol. I think I've done alright, considering I've been completely spaced out since I woke up today!

Heh, might go print this bad boy off and get some shut-eye before this interview. Meh.

I considered an all-nighter last nite for all my essays but really I feel rest is better as what you produce when exhausted is vastly inferior to what u make after a bit of sleep.

As for public speaking:
Dont be nervous or youll feel the heat even more. Have you panic before the presentation, a little self pity coupled with omgomgomg im gonna sink helps and then on the day have a nice breakfast, or eat a good amount as it will make u feel good, esp after all niter.
Get pumped up- put your favorite tunes on when youre adding you final touches.

Oh and dont rely on your memory, use your ability and knowledge and your flash cards. I find if youre desperately trying to recite and realise youve forgotten something which you deem important youll get panicky. In actual fact no one will really notice, only you. And also in my experience no one really pays any attention anyways, and they know what its like so they wont be laughing at you or anything. If anything if they see youre petrified it will make them pay more attention to you and not your topic.
P.M.A .dude :)

Do tell how it goes :) and good luck!

Haha, I just printed mine off, went to hand it in and realised I had the wrong module code on the front!

Ah well, nothing a pen didn't fix.

Sleepy time for me. Good luck with your presentation.

Good luck with the presentation but it's advised not to use cue cards, our lecturers mark you down for it as they believe it shows a lack of understanding. Though, I'm guessing considering it's going to be a bit tight trying to remember your presentation this late on (however, I do all mine the night before :)).

blah, I'm doing my computing A2 coursework.. that's due in today, i didn't go to bed until 3, got up at 8 and I'm not going to any lessons either :(

Bsc business computing here. Ive got to write 13000 words of reflective reports, a business plan, case studies for internet systems and design documents/implementation.

Then ive got to do a 5min presentation on my contribution towards my group a powerpoint presentation of my business plan and finish the website im making.

no dissertation but we have a showcase that involves us being in uni for 4 days whilst public, business etc walk around looking at our group project and asking questions.

...and your worrying about an allnighter to do a single presentation?

I've got absolutely nothing to do. That's right, no exams/essays until the 2nd half of April. And I just had my last EVER lecture! WOOT! :D
