UniFI Dream Router slow when using PPPoE

I have a UDR, it's now boxed up on the shelf. It's a great bit of kit but can't handle 1gb connections, it just can't do the throughput. Gets even worse if you enable the qos functionality Luckily.i got it when it was pre release and it was cheap so I just kept it incase they improved the firmware. Just think the cpu has been skimped on.

Though newer ones might be quad core?
Was it on a PPPoE connection?

Out of interest, what's it set your MTU at?

Out the box, the UniFi devices on auto set it to 1492/1452 and there is no way in the GUI to set it to 1500/1460.

There is a feature request to enable mini jumbo frames on PPPoE (1500/1460) but seems to be going nowhere currently.

I‘d like to apologise to the OP - they were absolutely bang-on about PPPoE being the issue here. I was telling a colleague this on Friday and they said “rubbish” and plugged a UDR into our 1Gbps connection (fixed IP address) and was uploading and downloading at the full 1Gbps so it is a very good router and the issue is PPPoE.

Thank you. I appreciate that you didn't need to come back to this thread and post that update! Rare on forums!

For some closure to the thread, I bought a UDM SE instead and that runs line speed fine. I must get round to selling the UDR!

I was thinking of going the opposite way. My Zen connection doesn't like anythign above 1480. May need a little CLI tickle but could be a place to try,

Zen support mini jumbo frames, as mines using 1500 MTU at the moment, ive also had 1500 MTU set on my old FTTC connection as well.

Set or actual? I can set 1500 on mine but it is actually running at 1480.

Both Set and Actual
