This is what I do.
I don't have many friends on there and a few I follow.
Most posts are not funny, not interesting. Seriously.. The amount of time some people (particularly girls) spend on there stalking etc and posting things like "feeling happy" or "need a hug" fishing for responses is just crazy

I use my account for (unfortunately) appearing normal. That's a sad state of affairs
I do like messenger and it has basically replaced texting and no need to wonder if a text is delivered

I post maybe once a month, usually to add pics or something for a holiday

I do feel it's mainly people gloating or people with empty lives who LOVE it
TV and Facebook and computer games, seems to be all some people do

Those that fish are irritants but you can easuly sack them off.

There are two groups that I like to read so this is the only reason I keep it but I tend to just shortcut to their feeds. It is a massive waste of time....I already have plenty other waste of times to distract me.

I keep in touch with my friends via hangouts

Got rid of face book an age ago. Sick of seeing what people eating for dinner etc etc

^^ This

and relatives wishing there other halfs happy birthday on FB i mean they live together wake up together share the same bed ffs , why not just tell them happy birthday in person.

deactivated a year ago only thing i miss is a local history group on there.

You can install the groups app which will allow you to use that side of FB without having to go into the main app.

Ive got a friend who's wife actually posts from his wall.. like as if hes posting it.

Shes a mentalist.

Never been an active user and never will be. My account was made at the request of people I met during a course that wanted to stay in contact with me, yet none of them have spoken to me and it's been about 4 years I think.

I don't live in the UK. Most of my old friends do. Thus, handy way of keeping in touch with people.

Also, whatever the perception of it in the UK, everyone and their dog (really) lives through it here, so I'm fine with joining in.

- arranged with a group of friends for some beers inna group chat. Could have probably used WhatsApp but wait who owns that.

You could have emailed them all or rang them

- posted in a group of friends where we are doing DIY stuff and uploaded some before/after pics of a room I decorated.

You could have emailed them all or rang them

- asked my network to recommend a local plasterer, got a few good recommendations and the one I chose is plastering 4 ceilings and a wall for me on Tuesday and Wednesday

You could have used Yellow Pages and that other site that tells you if they're any good

- kept in touch with a few friends from Germany, where I used to live

You could have emailed them all or rang them

- read a couple of interesting news articles posted by friends with similar interests

They could have uploaded it to their server and then give you a link.

Absolutely no need for Facebook since there are other much worse ways to do it and you should choose them first.

I could have emailed and rang individual people to do mundane things like getting plasterer recommendations, but when there is a perfectly good tool that means I only have to ask once why not use it.

Edit: sorry Sexy Grey Fox, reading back I see you were just kidding. There are many who actually believe what you replied though!

^ the only reason I have it. I've pretty much unfollowed anyone I know on it and use it for car/car selling pages, it's usually get a reply quicker on Facebook than forums these days. Although, that doesn't keep me away from here and Club GTi :D

Between three of us we raised over £3k for motor neurone disease. Mostly through Facebook. Doubt we would have had the audience without it.

Also I delete anyone I wouldn't have a pint with or anyone that uses Facebook as a platform for moaning.

You make of it as you will.

I use Facebook on/off, I understand it's trendy to hate Facebook but I actually find it quite useful. Over the last week I've:

If you use Facebook in a decent way the it's actually a really good tool.

Edit: forgot, poked mrk 5 times in a row

Trendy? How... A lot of people are coming off Facebook that the mainstream news never likes to tell you since it is their big network as well.

If someone forgets you, they're not really your friend ;)

Heh! Most usually don't have friends on it or if you truly break it down you could count your true friends on one hand.
