Horner said what Merc are doing is within the rules, so no protesting. It's also something cars have had and been doing for long time. Jenson said the BAR had it even.

I remember them talking about ways to keep/adjust the ride hight when refuelling was banned, as there could be near 100kg difference between the car at the start of the race and the finish, and devices to keep the ride height the same were worked on.

3 Mercedes engined cars, including Bottas, have swapped engines at this event. Mercedes seem to have a reliability issue with their latest engine design.

With only a 5 grid drop, may as well change it on tracks where Mercedes have a clear advantage.

It’s a mental rule. 10 place for the first new unit, 5 for every subsequent one.

May as well take the hit at every gp and rag the engine at capacity, then bin it.

I thought adjustable suspension was banned years ago. Wasnt there a Renault years ago before mass damper that used a trick interlinked suspension system that was banned? It’s soo tough to keep up with what is or isn’t allowed for development. There was talk that the Mercedes front wheel system wouldn’t be possible next year with the new regulations either, but this doesn’t seem to give the same benefit as this rear wheel system. Very cool development.

the suspension isn’t the active part here. The car reacts to a certain speed and “stalls”. It stops pushing the car down and increases top speed as downforce is removed. That’s why the suspension moves as the downforce load is removed.

so clever.

Just wondering... what would happen if everyone took a full equipment change?

Penalties are applied in the order which they are earned, so whoever changed first would have the 25 place grid penalty first, so you could theoretically qualify last and end up with pole. :D

Well that was a bit of a wet fart of a session.

So much drama!

the Red Bulls have cracked wings and they are currently reinforcing them before the session.

Found the limits of the carbon fibre weaves elasticity then. Not that surprising from the team with the waggliest of wings.

There's already white lines everywhere Martin... They define the edge of the track as stated in the damn regulations!

Race Control - Mazepin lap time deleted - Track limits turn 9

Going to guess that was Mazepin going slow on the racing line then.

Race control - Stroll lap time 1:39.219 deleted - Track limits turn 19.
