Aite, well i am a bit slow on the uptake of the whole ucas process having just finished it.

I am wondering what i have to do about accommodation and when do I have to sort that out. Should i be doing it already?

Anyone that is applying/has applied to Bristol or UCL know? Don't wanna end up with crappy accommodation :p

Also....for current students - where should I apply to? Would post this on thestudentroom but its not letting me sign up for some reason :(.

Bristol = Firm, UCL = insurance for anyone that cares :)

Thanks for any info.

Because UCL is your insurance, I don't think you can apply for accommodation until your results come out. I think this means you'll get put in with people going through clearing etc, which misses the first round of allocations... you might end up with the less desirable halls in this instance.

Bristol should have already sent you information about accommodation and applying for halls etc?

They send you things called letters, open them, read them, do what they say et voila, accommodation shall be yours!

Going in this late will probably mean there's no accomodation left, or very little.

I had to go into private rented accomodation, which I found through a uni open day.

I'm in my first year at Bristol atm. I'm sure I had applied for accommodation a lot earlier than this, but could be wrong. You should have received stuff in the post about all the halls.

Also, my twin bro is at UCL and I think he also would have applied by now, but I don't think you apply for halls for your second choice unless you are going there.

I've had some letters - none about accommodation though i think.

EDIT: LOL i take that back....looks like im getting crappy accommodation then :p

UCL Ramsay Hall ***

lol.

UCL were really poorly organized with the accomodation, but I can remember that I had it all sorted out fine by now. It might be hard to get anything there as it is your insurance.
Read the letters? If you haven't been sent them then email or phone.

The 2008/9 Accommodation Prospectus and information on how to apply for accommodation will be sent to all students who have firmly accepted their offer of study at Bristol during May of the year of entry.

All applicants can apply online from 2 June 2008. Applications must be received by the deadline of 12 July for home fee payers or 31 August for overseas fee payers as appropriate to be included in the guarantee.

Google is your friend? :p

As far as where to apply for, I'd suggest avoiding the Stoke Bishop halls, they're a bit of a hike from uni and all the clubs/shops etc. Also not completely safe walking to/from them at night as it involves crossing the Downs. (A large open grassy/tree filled area, somewhat infamous at night for.. er, gay men >.>)
