University - Macbook / iMac (lol)

I don't think the MacBook comes with the mini-DVi to .. adapter. I had to buy one.
Maybe it's just the MBP then?

I have a MBP, so don't quote me on the MacBook :o

I've just ordered the middle macbook myself with plans to ditch my PC and just use the macbook on my Dell 2007WFP. Partly I want to deprive myself of the temptation of playing games (I have the 360 for that  ) and partly I want the portability that a 13" laptop will hopefully offer.

By logging into the store for higher education with a VPN connection I got the macbook for £713 instead of £829 :) which I think is a good price. I can't believe they charge over £100 extra for the black version, it has 40gb more HD space and it's black, that's it!

Snap. Macbook + 2007WFP for me at uni I've decided now. I'm going to meadowhall today with my UCAS application letter and if all goes to plan then I might be the owner of one but I'm going to try force them into throwing a dvi adaptor thing in there though. Leopard I can wait for 'til the end of October but I can't be without a computer for near 2 months I don't think so should be good. :)

It's always worth a try and you've got nothing to lose by asking.

Meadowhell, that's a good idea, why did I order from the online store when I'm in Sheffield and half an hour from a store.

*Edit* Just phoned the apple store, Macbooks in stock and £1 cheaper than from the Apple online store! (With the student discount). They also do the 3 year extended warrantee for £58 instead of £199.. the lady said even staff don't get it at that price. I'm going to tell them I'll take the warrantee if they throw in my DVI adapter :p

God yeh, I lived in Sheffield for 8 years of my life and I hated that place, total hell especially the food section at the oasis, *shudder* oh well they've got an apple shop, Leeds doesn't, and I'm in town today so I thought I'd pop by...

Offered me that too! I said i'd think about it. Hopefully they will call me back as in another thread!

13" is small but is also very portable, I've had 15" laptops before and found them to be too big/heavy (although the macbook isn't the as light as say an XPS 1330).

The spec isn't pathetic compared to similarly specced laptops, especially if you can get the student discount - and again if you look for 12 - 13" windows laptops they tend to charge a high premium for their small size.

Personally I'm already loving my Macbook, the design, the OS and the speed is spot on. It's completely silent and will do everything that I need it to. I love the remote and the way (it's going to sound cheesy) it 'just works' - because it really does.

Now if anyone wants to buy a C2D/8800 Gts/2GB full system... ;)

Do you run Photoshop, Illustrator or anything similar? I'm just thinking into the future as well. A 24in iMac would be super nice..

Certainly not disputing that! I don't run any of those programs personally, but I'm sure there's plenty of people around who do. AFAIK the macbook's are supposed to pretty capable with graphical programs but not with games, I seem to remember reading something to that effect somewhere anyway.

£58 3yr warranty if you're a student?
Wow... Is this just the MB and not the MBP?
