ok asus motherboard. was working fine 2 weeks back. just plugged it in (all correectly) and it does beeep beep beep, which according to reliable sources is a problem with graphics. Its an sli mobo, so I have tried the gfx card in both slots, and another card too, also in both slots. Same beeping. reset bios. Theres no onboard video. Suggestions?

Did you remember to plug up any additional power the videocard might need?

Try booting it with no card, see if you get the same beeps.

Beyond that, borrow/buy a really cheap and nasty card to test with (and if successful, get a piccie on yer screen until you sort out the dead one).

You need to find out what BIOS you have and cross reference the beeps with www.bioscentral.com. This will tell you where the problems is.

That said, check that the CPU, memory and Graphics card are installed firmly and correctly.

Run memtest86 to check the memory.

Check the system with one stick of RAM at a time.. and do the same test but in different banks. This will test the memory controller.

well it was ram, I removed some and it worked fine. But since then it blue screened occasioanlly the last few days. So I replaced the ram with a shiney new 4gb and the damn machine wont boot again. the same beeeeep beep beep. Tried the new ram in every slot, each stick one at a time, and now they are sitting in my main pc proving they work fine. So it looks like its back to a mobo problem

putting the previous ram back in doesnt help though, and it wor4ked fine on the new ram for half hour or so before problems
