Unlocking 2.G iPhone to 2.1 - PwnageTool and Quickpwn - Mac and Windows.

Which method did you use? What do you mean, no 02 sim? You unlocked it with no SIM in there?

Try switching the phone off then back on again. Can sometimes solve the wi-fi problems.

Mine worked flawlessly I now have Cydia, installer and Appstore running in my 1st Gen iphone on a Orange PAYG sim

Although it should be said in the guide that you need to turn off itunes after restore before running Quickpwn, you mentioned it in a post subsequently but not in the guide. Just to let you know.

Try going to General > Network > Wi-fi > reset the connection. Then restart the phone.

Also, reset your router.

Check your router channels as well. Might need to change it.

Smashing, glad it's working. Routers can be funny with the iPhone, I had all sorts of problems with mine.

Installer is not massively supported in 2.1, Cydia has more programs. The official App Store is fantastic and has taken the emphasis away from Installer and Cydia. Now mainly background and jailbreak apps are there. Most of the Games have moved to the App Store for example.

You don't need a SIM program, you can import your SIM contacts by going to Settings > General > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and at the bottom there should be a button to import.

Best off getting an MSN client from the App store. Have a look on there. The best one by a racing mile is BeejiveIM but that costs money but is worth every penny in my opinion. There are plenty of free ones though iirc.

Has anyone else had issues of text being sent multiple times. its only started happening the last few weeks but its really anoying. I still get the odd bit of text and menu lag as well. seriously thinking of switching back to the 1.4, if it wasnt for exchange support keeping me on 2.x

2.x is full of bugs. Are you on 2.1 or 2.0?

What SIM would you be using? Either way, you can upgrade to 2.1. If it is an 02 SIM, then you won't need to unlock, only a jailbreak is needed. If you have any other SIM then you will need to unlock too.

Well run Quickpwn, but choose not to unlock and it will just jailbreak. Let me know how you get on.

Make sure you do a hard reset to 2.1 and then QUIT iTunes during the process.

This guide is great, but i've updated my 2G iPhone to 2.2 firmware and cant get iTunes to restore to 2.1 firmware.

So im stuck at the first step with iTunes restore

You can jailbreak and unlock the 2.2 firmware. I have now updated the guide with the files you need. Are you on Mac or Windows? I would recommend Quickpwn on either as it is a little easier.

I activated my iphone through itunes with an O2 payg sim card and then I unlocked it through QuickPWN but now everytime I put a vodafone sim card in it tells me to connect to itunes and when its in itunes it says I am using a card that's not supported. Any ideas what I can do?

You will have to put 2.2 on as I outlined in the guide and start again.
