The originals are excellent too, just a bit soft for my liking. Perfect for something non-sporty though.
Which is probably a fair way to describe a Fusion

Indeed. I had them on my -if anything even less sporty- Octavia. They both accentuated the body roll, and lasted bloody ages.Which is probably a fair way to describe a Fusion![]()
Yeah I'm a fan of the Falken, but every pair I've had do not last as long as I'd hope and with this thing weighing 2.2 ton, that will only be worse so yeah even thoguh I facnied them for pure grip, you've made me think about mileage and you're right, they're not the best.I put the non SUV version of the FK510 on my V70R and was very happy with them, I pushed them hard and the grip and predictability on offer was impressive, especially in the wet. I didn't have the car long enough to see how they wore though.
The F1A3 is a tried and tested tyre, everyone knows they are good, and I'm guessing they will last a fair bit longer than the Falkens - You might have a better idea of how long the Falkens last? But Goodyears generally wear very well.
I'd probably go with that option for just £45 more than the Falkens.
Not familiar with the Latitude Sport name and how they compare to a Pilot Sport. Is it effectively just called that instead Pilot Sport SUV? If so they might edge it over the F1A3, but for £112 more, nah.
just re-checked kwik fit for the lolz and the 19 inch staggered MPS4S are back in stock...urrgh...just decided on the kwikfit MPS4S and they're out of 19" fronts! F1A5 it is then...
though tbh, either would be a world's difference compared to the OEM RFTs lol
Your first line suggest any tyres are fine then you discuss the merits of tyres with higher performance in the rain. Surely normal driving in the rain is a perfect example of the benefits of paying a bit extra for better tyres ?For normal daily driving anything like the Avons, etc. will be fine - though personally I'm a fan of tyres with enhanced wet performance especially as we've had so much torrential rain over the last couple of years or so - the difference in driving in pouring rain is huge to the point I'm surprised it isn't more highly regulated - though not all tyres that perform in the wet are great for overall performance.
I've twice been in situations with my Turanzas, one where it caused vehicles in front of me to collide, where pretty much everyone else was struggling and I didn't even have the slightest issue with stopping distance or sliding, etc.

Do all tyres come with the same amount of tread from the factory? My GTi with the Vredestein Quatrac Pros had 7mm each corner when I traded it in. Had covered maybes 1000 miles with them. The AMG I picked up recently has covered 2-300 miles. Yet the little service video I was sent shows the tread as ~6.3mm per corner. So I'm a bit confused as to why it is lower, with less miles covered.![]()
