What do I do to recoop my listing fees. Kinda annoyed but looks like a genuine mistake.

Received this email from some dude who bid on a camera lens but does not want to pay.

I know I can file a complaint to get my fees back, but is there another way?

Hello Lee,

I would like explain the situation: the time I was bidding for the lens, I did not realize it is not a VR one (that I am interested in) - which is my fault, of course.

I do realize this is a breach of eBay policy, nevertheless, I do not want to complete the transaction.

I hope there is some way to solve this situation such as selling it to bidder No.4 from the bidding list whose bid was just £2 less.

Regards

Mikulas

complain and get you money back.

he should have read the listing and understood it was not for him and he shouldn't have bidded on it.

I'm sure there is a thing to mutually withdraw the item.....I've had it before when the seller did not have the item..

Or if you fill in a non payer thingy-a-me-bob you get your fees back.

Personally I'd accept that the dude made a mistake and if it's an issue of the listing fee ask him to cough for it if ebay won't refund. Like you say - genuine mistake and I'd prefer to go with 'what goes around comes around' - it's good karma dude - go with it.

You can also send the 2nd highest bidder a "second chance offer"....otherwise I would just ask him to pay the listing fee.

Offer it to the second highest bidder through the 'second chance offer' option in my Ebay under the 'Items I've Sold' section. If the other bidder doesn't want it, open an unpaid item strike against the original buyer so you can get your final value fee refunded. He will then get an unpaid item strike and get suspended if he does it again. Relist the item if no one else wants it!

Second chance offer to the guy who bid £2 less then neutral or (if you're really cross) bad feedback for this guy.

You can only give positive feedback for buyers now. Even if they refuse to pay. Even if they bid, fail to pay and then you successfully reclaim your FVF through ebay and they get a black mark against their name. Unjustifiable.

But on the issue of mutually withdrawing - it's easily done if you "forgive" the guy for his mistake. You get your final value fee back and he doesn't get a black mark. As far as I'm aware there's no way to get the listing fee back - so might be worth going the second chance route as suggested.
