"Up and running ps3"

Quick question. . In the ops post it states that the ps3 is resonably quiet when on apart from the initial boot up.

Now does this mean its quiet when sat on its 'dashboard' or quiet when actually playing a game.

Also what has it been compared against?!

Yeah it was the GPU that supposedly got downgraded.

Although there was a rumour that the Cell in the PS3 dev kits was currently running at 2.8Ghz, although I doubt the actual retail PS3s will have the same downgrade.

will anyone actually miss dualshock, did it serve a practical purpose

It does seem strange to call it "next gen" and then take out something we all have got used to as standard. I find rumble features defintely add something to a game.

rumble was taken out because the company called immersion sued both sony and microsoft, microsoft settled out of court , but sony did not yield, went to court and lost
sony then appealed and are awaiting judgment (not to sure on that one but correct me if i'm wrong )
in the meantime sony announces ps3 and immersion gets greedy thinking they are gonna make lots more money .
sony then on the sly say that the rumble interfere's with tilt function and decide not to put it in
immersion came up with new technology saying it will work perfectly but sony did not listen which caused embarrassment to immersion in that they stand to loose potentially millions in dollars in revenue.

Here's an amusing quote from Something Awful, i thought a thread like this would be the best place:

It's my favorite time of year, Console War Season! Console War Season is a special time when multiple consoles are released at the same time and the Internet explodes in a fury of rumors, misinformation, and rampant flaming. My favorite thing to do in the whole world is read the GameFAQs message boards for each individual game system before upcoming releases. It is there that the console warriors battle it out on the frontlines to fight for their preferred box of mass produced electronics.
It is your duty as a console warrior to pick one gaming system and defend its honor to the death. The United Nations recently passed resolutions declaring that enjoying and owning more than one game console is a crime against humanity. The U.N.'s stance on this most paramount of issues is final and no one, and I mean no one, just ignores the U.N. Violators of the law will be nagged with letters that say URGENT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR ACCOUNT but instead contain an application for a credit card.
:D

"Up and running ps3" not for the europeans, muhaha, think I will be playing PES6 GOW etc before the PS3 has even hit the British Empire :p
