AMD has released a list of the upcoming FreeSync-compatible monitors (apparently also showcased in CES)

Monitor makers are well known for being a bit fast and loose with transition times, there are several "144hz 1ms" IPS type monitors being announced but how they actually perform in real world usage remains to be seen

Unfortunately, there's no mention as to what panel types these are...? Will have to do some more digging.

The 31.5" 4K Samsung sounds like a good option for me. If they end up costing a large premium (like gsync) then I will get a standard non freesync version.

While this might be against the general consensus, I hope someone would make 30"+ 1080p/1200p FreeSync monitors (still 16:9/16:10 IPS and 120Hz+, preferably). I'm using a 42" 1080p HDTV atm, and I'm fine with the resolution on it (from 1m distance). Unfortunately, it seems 1440p and 4k are all the rage nowadays with anything upwards from 27".

im with you on that, Philips did change that recently, I hope it sells good and there is more of them, nice to see a 40inch display with displayport, I thought it would never happen when you see 4k TV's still with scart

with all the windows scaling issues I don't feel like squinting to see stuff
oled TV's finally coming down in price and interesting stuff like QD
I want to see displayport on all that not just hdmi2 ><

i want away from tn/va i want the next tech as soon as possible on pc

That now sounds a bit rubbish after watching the link, freesync only works between a certain fps outside of this its back to v-sync and poor input lag, so much for the g sync killer....., he does say it's not a freesync requirement but its still there on all 3 screens so must be a reason why?

That makes sense to me. If you drop under the screens range you maintain a decent refresh rate.
Seems a bit unclear what happens when you go above the max refresh rate though. From the way the guy in the video sounded you can enable Vsync or leave FreeSync running at the maximum refresh rate of the screen?

Gsync works the same way. You have to keep your frame rate between a certain range to get best effect.

It works exactly the same way as with G-SYNC if you have VSync enabled. In the variable refresh rate environment 'FreeSync' does its thing - with apparently very low latency, without the usual stuttering etc. If the frame rate floor or cap is reached then the GPU acts as VSync enabled with the monitor at its fixed maximum refresh rate.

The only difference with 'FreeSync' is that if you leave VSync disabled, the monitor will act as VSync disabled when the frame rate floor or cap is reached. So you will get tearing. With G-SYNC it enforces VSync in these situations regardless of your setting.
