Updating 5870 Bios

i've been sent the latest 00101.103 bios from Sapphire and was wondering is this tool atiwinflash

Can I ask why they gave you the bios, as this hasn't been released on any sites?

i have a friend who works for Sapphire so asked him if there was an updated bios for my sapphire 5870.

This is the latest bios for STANDARD 5870 – don’t use if you bought a Vapor-X board.

I see that this bios is available for the reference ATI 5870, hope it has the sapphire branding on this one. Thanks for uploading.

Ok its an updated bios from ATI, but doesen't have sapphire branding on it, I recon they may be working on it to release it in the future? does he work in that department

I haven't tried it yet, only worked out the things above from another forum. as this is generic it will not show as a saphire on the firmware and thus void any warranty I imagine,

i've never updated a GPU bios before. would the ATIWINFLASH work ok or is a bootable cd/USB a better option

I've never used any ATI flashing tools before, only MOBO/nvidia

I know most recommend doing it via DOS

I have a feeling this is the revised bios Sapphire sent me for the support ticket i raised regarding my flashing multicoloured pixels in the 2D environment.

If it is - it didn't fix it and actually caused a problem with horizontal lines during video playback and game menus.. for which i then had to install the 9.12 hotfix..
