updating vista problem

This was happening to me too, but I installed the SP1 RC and it just went away. Sorry, not much help unless you want to take the plunge too.
 
Google this: "Vista Windows Update Error 8024402C"

Try and fix it based on the Microsoft KB article you get as a result, and then keep looking based on that picture you posted. Google is your friend :)
 
Ahhh, I see what you mean. I meant, google the first entry in the list and then work your way down. You may be experiencing a cascade of errors so if you fix one, then the rest will fall into line. Maybe.

It sounds similar to what you are experiencing but may not be the solution for you. Your error code is mentioned there at some point but I don't know if the guy fixed it.

Have you tried using a program like CCleaner to scan your registry?

thanks looks like i might be stuck, might have to reinstall vista
