Upgrade 6900XT Gigabyte Waterforce or Powercolour Liquid Devil

This is why it's best to buy gpus when they have just come out as you have the full 2 years before it is surpassed rather than just 9 months if that and even more pertinent now especially considering the inflated prices which may or may not last into the next gen.
but it is never 2 years if the goal, after 1 year the refreshes on the same generation come out, see nvidia that comes out with 3000, then in the middle it comes out with 3000ti and so on

Yeah but cards like the 3070ti are only 5% faster than a 3070 but the latter is 35% faster than a 2070 super so it always usually pays to buy at the start of the generation rather than the mid tier refresh.

if your goal is to upgrade the reference cards, you get it, but for the most beautiful custom or liquid versions, months have passed since launch.
For example, I never upgrade at launch, I let months pass so that all the custom and particular models come out to have more choice.

The leak detection on the Waterforce cards and MB is really overly sensitive. I have the z490 Waterforce motherboard and the leak detection was the bane of my life. Fittings had to be super loose to avoid the metal of the fittings contacting the gold rings of the detection system, creating a “short” that is seen as a leak. That led me to have the fittings so loose that sometimes fluid would leak very slowly, which obviously also set the leak detection going. Then a clean up and wait job for it to dry, and repeat. In the end I actually removed the single pin from the Header that houses the leak detection so that it couldn’t send its signal. It has worked flawlessly for 6 months since then.

For the person that asked how much to pay for a 6900 XT: you can find them in UK retailers for £1200 or less. Just spend 15 minutes searching. I personally would not pay that, but they are available.

Aren't they just. What fittings? Apparently EK fittings trigger them off real hard. Mine had to be quite thumb loose tight if that makes sense to stop the block flashing.

Others said other manufacturers fittings didn't trigger them.

Real genius design the way they made it like that.

I bought the same card, but did not experience the problem @Absorbentsolid did.

I did, however, get a couple of micro extenders to fit into the card before the fittings as amigafan2003 suggested.

Edit: These will fit inside the leak detection rings:

Ahhhh, good job I have 4 of those. Never thought about using them there but it would make it look ugly. Skinny fitting then thick fitting.
