The 5800x3d is equivalent to the 7600x in gaming as a comparison, what the 5800x3d will do apart from mires FPS will give you better 1% lows making the game run smoother in the most demanding situations.

Never hand any driver issiues with AMD or Nvidia.

16gb is fine for now , sure some games use more that can be added anytime. 2 x 16gb is preferably as it can more stable than 4 sticks which can often struggle to reach advertised speeds.

Thought it might. I found a set exactly the same as mine for £45 and thought that might be a good match to up my RAM to 32GB. But looks like 4 sticks isn't a wise move.

So to summarise. Get a 6700XT and a 5800x3d. - Readily available 2nd hand or better shopping new?

If I were to swap out my RAM for 32GB what speed etc would you recommend to match the 5800?

@Winston

New you can get a 6700xt for £320 plus you get warranty for me that's worth it but if you do not mind go used if you get a good deal.
Can be had new for £273 comes with 3 year warranty.

5800x3d £273
6700xt £320
2x 16gb ddr4 3600 £55

total damage = £648

so budget of £500 + selling your current 3600x/16gb ram/1660s (£180) = £680
means you have ~£30 extra in your pocket...man maths works out ;)
