Upgrade from o2 pending

Right so im in my 18th month of an o2 online contract and just wanted to ask a few questions beforehand as ive never been through the upgrade process.

Firstly, my current contract is 18 months with 150 minutes and 750 texts (was a 50% extra offer when i first signed up) and got a free W810i. Now this was £25 a month and basically the phone really is scewed up now so really need a new phone!

Now what should i push for, i really wouldn't want to go beyond £30 per month for the contract price to be honest. 150 minutes per month is about right and i regularly send about 600ish texts so the current allowances are about right for me. Do you think i can get the same contract at the same price with the upgrade? I do go over on some months which on about 8 of the months were about £35-£40 with one which was £110 but i won't go there!

As regards the phone, i was looking towards XDA orbit but doubt i could get this free so what other phones would you recommend?

I've actually just got off the phone with o2 upgrades, i'm in month 12 of an 18 month contract, £35/month for 750 mins 750 texts, and was really pushing to upgrade now to an Orbit, best i could get out of them was

12 month contract: £40 min
18 month contract: £35 min

Thats for a free Orbit.

Obviously telling them that Phones4U offered to buy me out right now and provide me the T-Mobile equivalent got them to offer "Pay £20 for each month owed, today and we'll cancel the remaining 6 months, and upgrade your contract, effective as of today and send you a free orbit"

Very tempting indeed, just really not too sure about losing £140 for something phones4u will give me free, i just REALLY would love to stay with o2!

I reckon you could windle your way to getting a free Orbit if you pushed and bent to a 18 month £30/month contract?
 
Ah cheers for the info mate. Yeh im just having a bit more of a look round at info about o2 upgrades as im a bit of a pushover lol so just want a bit of amo so i don't fold, which i'm pretty sure will happen!

Any tips for the call?

Any other experiences?
 
Having looked at O2's website i can see a variety of phones which i like (aside from the orbit which may be a bit over the top for me) so which out of the following would you suggest is the best?

Nokia 6500 slide
W910i
N95
K850i

Mainly mention competitors, mention that you really don't want to leave O2 but X company has offered a nice deal etc. etc..

Just try and be pushy really, as many times as you can, say you have been offered good stuff elsewhere but love being with o2, they'll never cancel without your say so, but you do have the power in this instance, mostly cause you could get the Orbit equivalent on T-mobile for free!
 
I really need help deciding which of the above phones to go for if i can. I'm really not intouch with mobile phones atm!

Wait for the new N95 8Gb coming out in a few days, has a faster UI, bigger battery life, bigger memory size and a bigger screen :D

Upgrade coming up next month *Practices blagging skills* ;)
 
Rightoh, i rang up the other day and it turns out ive got to wait until the 12 of November before i can upgrade. Now ive given the N95 8gb some thought and i do really like it but realise that 1) its not out on O2 until January 08 and 2) i dont think id get it free on my current contract. What do you think my best options are now? I don't mind going up to a £30 contract aslong as i get a decent deal with a very good phone!

Yeah, the 8gb model could be a while till its free/cheap on upgrades, and that normal N95 will make you feel out dated too soon! hehe

Orbit is still a good'un in my eyes, if you're ok with there being no physical keypad, or cancel contract, move to tmobile and get the Vario iii
 
Right after further concideration i think that i will probably stick with the orbit when it comes round to the time of upgradeing (12th october) aslong as i can get it free of charge (currently a student with nooo money!).

What is it like for sending text messages? Whats the phone like overall?

Ive had a read through various forums and something about a SD memory corruption issue keeps popping up. I can't seem to find whether thats been resolved, or even how much of an issue it will be. Any idea's?

Also would it ship with WM5 or WM6?

Rather than start a new thread....

10 days till i can upgrade, would they bring that forward if i asked as my phone is really dead! Ta.

What!!!! 12month....you sure about that, ive been a customer for 4 years and didnt get offered anything near that when i upgraded 3 month ago...thats not nice for me....but Well Done for you, thats a good thing you got

Best i got 3 months ago, was 800 mins, 200 text, long weekend text and talk(sat-mon totally free calls and texts - not taken from the mins or text) and a free K810i on a 18 month...
