Upgrade from Ryzen 3 1200 for a kids gaming PC

Dont think either her or the kids would notice any differences, I only upgrade their pcs so theyre not annoyingly slow when i need to (often) fix things theyve broken lol

Both I think lol.

Joint account, less aggro for me haha.
Shes happy playing older games anyway, shes spent nearly 1000 hours on skyrim in the last few months
If she plays older games,a Core i3 12100F and a cheap H510 motherboard for her system might be a better upgrade. Creation Engine based games such as Skyrim/Fallout 4 don't thread well and perform better on Intel CPUs. Then put the Ryzen 5 3600 and motherboard in your kids system??

The other alternative is get a Ryzen 5 5500,which should be a bit better than a Ryzen 5 3600(but it lacks L3 cache so is much slower than a Ryzen 5 5600 even though it is Zen3).

Yes, the beta is there, and it works fine on the AB350M which is basically the same board, but some people prefer not to use the BETA's, it's important to use the 7.00 bridge BIOS before applying 7.03 as well or it will not work. I'm fine using BETA but won't apply them to other people machines, unless they are happy with potential instability.

AFAIK, BIOS with 5xxx support on 300 series chipsets will always beta only. I AM WRONG PLEASE IGNORE!

FWIW I've had almost zero issues on my x370 taichi running a beta (I have had around 3 crashes in 3 months, but I think these are just as likely to be something else - 14yo PSU or the fact that I'm using RAM at timings I hadn't previously tested)

Completely agree in principle though if it's a system for someone where you don't want to end up troubleshooting endlessly!

Appears you are correct, could've sworn I'd read somewhere it was beta only...Just checked the page for my board and there is now a 7.10 non-beta
