Upgrade itch after 2 days :s

at max load they would pull 481w, leaving only 119w for the rest of the system,

how many hard drives have you got in your machine rain?

- You're quoting Furmark consumption.
- You have over 200W headroom with a 750W PSU.
- The Lepa does 650W on 12V.
- That's with an overclocked i7-950 iirc.
- And that's at the plug.

I think he'll be more than all right. 650W would be cutting it short, in extreme cases.

I reckon his current PSU is fine for any single card.

I run my i7 on a 4.5GHz clock with a 520W Corsair HX. Excellent unit but I had no reservations about keeping it. Worst case, you buy a new one if you need it :p

The 600 watt PSU is fine for a single card if its a good brand (OCZ 600w would be more than adequate).

I'd keep the PSU and get a single 6950.

You only need 750w for a pair of mid range graphics cards (GTX 560s / 6870s), and 850w for a pair of high ends (GTX 580 / 6970) plus plenty of headroom for overclocking.

Interesting!

ASUS P8P67 supports Supports AMD Quad-GPU CrossFireX™ Technology, but not SLI.

Whereas, the P8P67 PRO (REV 3.1) supports NVIDIA® Quad-GPU SLI™ Technology and AMD Quad-GPU CrossFireX™ Technology.

Originally, I thought that if a mobo supported one then it would automatically support the other, so one again I am indebted to Stuild for increasing my knowledge, and to BringTheRain for raising the question.

You have to be careful with these itches...they can land you in trouble if you don't get the proper advice.

Well I got thinking bud.

Apart from my psu and DVD rw lol.

This system is all NEW.

New case,fans,mobo,cables,ram,CPU,cooler.

So it just seems logical to buy a new GPU and then I only have a DVD rw which is 2 years old and a psu which is two years old.

Everything will at least have some warranty.

You would pick the fuggliest cars wouldn't you :(
