Other than the MSI psu, any others you’d recommend? Is there benefit to the PCIE 5.0 support currently?

Nvidia.gpus use them. And you can always carry forward the psu to your future new build. Why hamstring yourself?

I have gone a bit wild. The MB I was looking at another retailer as the one you suggested is out of stock now. I’ll look at the phanteks psu too. I was going to opt for 64GB ram as I read tht MSFS2024 is ram intensive or am I wasting money. Still torn with the GPU

The 7600 cpu is better value. Just wasn’t sure if it would be be necessary to get something more powerful for certain games

I would personally put the money into a better GPU than having 64gb of memory as 32gb is fine for msfs . the 7900gre is 10% faster than the 7800xt on average costing 10% more which is a good return imo.

I’m possibly going to reuse a 2TB HDD for now. Are there any implications other than load times? I had quite a few games from Steam saved so my plan was to update the library once the new machine is built. I wasn’t sure if most people just rely on SSDs now the prices have dramatically dropped?

Are you referring to an OS drive, or just for storage of some of your Steam library?

I’m referring pure storage. I was going to re use my Samsung 970 evo 256gb m.2 for now for the OS

That's fine. Not ideal from a performance POV, but you're already familiar with the speed of it.

Would you say the m.2 is still adequate in terms of performance for the os?

Personally I think having a separate small SSD for the boot drive is a bit pointless because SSDs have come down in price so much compared to a decade ago (was more common then to have a small boot SSD purely for cost reasons) and also that small SSDs are actually slower than larger SSDs.

If reusing parts, I would've reused the case and cooler if that was the case.
