I've got a couple of 64gb SSD and think getting point to upgrade them.

One of has 870a chipset another intel x58a. Intel has sata 2 intel controller. Sata 3 is Marvell which apparently sucks, but I have installed latest non official patched bios from the web.

240-500gb should be ok £50 each or so. Should I go for sandisc sad or go for ultra or Samsung 860 Evo. Would older boards not make the faster SSD worthwhile?

I'd just go for a reliable make over a more expensive faster model. You'd never notice the difference anyway unless you spend a lot of time shunting tonnes of files around.

Never used a SanDisk SSD so I can't really comment but it's a known brand, as long as you buy it from a reputable supplier I don't see any reason not to get one.

I've got 3 spin drives and a Samsung evo SSD currently, but I'm tempted to replace 2 of my old drives with SSD as the prices are pretty good atm
