there is no point with the current GPU, wonder if its worth the hassle of the PSU and cooler now while i have everything out, so come the new cards its just dumping that in, as opposed to faffing with PSU and OCing the cpu.
 
That's true I guess. I can't imagine many games will be CPU bottlenecked with your current GPU. You'll get a bit of a boost in general performance though with a small overclock. A cooler would let you push it to around 4.5GHz or better. PSUs don't change much in price, so it's up to you :)
 
okay, for between £75-90 whats the best PSU that will support the system for some gentle ocing and a new GPU when released (no sli) and a CPU cooler.

ideally i would like a modular PSU but is the XFX that much better?
 
The Be Quiet one I linked above is a good modular PSU. I'd get that over the OCZ.

The XFX one is made by Seasonic, who make very high standard PSUs.
 
Get the Corsair if you'd like modular. The CX series used to be a lot better but it's still all right. The Akasa modular one may be fine, I know nothing about that one.

I'm not sure if they dispatch on Saturdays, if not you could wait until Monday to see what stock's in.
