You might want to wait for the i5s this week op. Theres a 55% sale on msi motherboards so you should be able to get ram and the cpu for less than you think.
firstly it was a typo, i meant to say "i'd" so it was advice not info,
second, i stil believe if your using 755 then a dual core is the better chip, the four cores are still not necessary and wont be for a while and you can get a much higher speed of a dual core
Are they released tomorrow? Could be tempted by the sales.

Games are starting to use quad cores, and they are only going to get more like that as i7's + i5's phase out the duals so it is a sound investment.
Your E8500 has a very solid overclock, the Q9550 can get 4GHz on air, im not certain how the 9450 clocks but i would expect about 3.8GHz. 4 cores at 3.8 is better than 2 at 4.2GHz imo.
Anyway, modern games are starting to utilist 4 cores, OP can afford a quad, why would a dual be better ?
