Hey guys

My PC is slowly being upgraded :) and now it is the turn for the graphics card.

Current spec:

AMD Phenom II x4 965 @ 3.4 GHZ Stock (soon to be overclocked)
4GB Kingston DDR2 800
Asus M3N/HD_HDMI (Sli Board 750a Nvidia Chipset)
Corsair VX550 PSU
Coolermaster CM690 II Advanced

Current GPU is : XFX 8800GTS 320MB

My current Gpu is starting to struggle gaming a good example is Bad Company 2 i only just get 30 FPS on medium which in combat scenes makes the game unplayable.

Ive done some investigation and found in afterburner when i play games such as Black Ops, Crysis, BFBC2 the GPU usage is always at between 95-99% and usually using around 315 of the 320MB on board Ram so i take it this means i am at the limit of the GPU.

So to the point. I am looking for a card which can handle all these games easily on Max (except crysis of course) and also be well equipped for new games such as Crysis 2 and others.

Budget is around £200 and i play on a 1680x1050 Monitor.

Sorry for the long post

Regards Ryan Cheers in advance

some good deals on the gtx 470s at the mo, or if your budget can stretch a 480, but that low res might not even need a 480 to max out your listed games

Hey

I looked at those Twin Frozer ones but i keep seeing people having problems with those ones or is that just one off. Also arnt they very power hungry?

Will a 470 give good 3d performance in the future?

Regards Ryan

they are power hungry but you have a descent 690w psu right? that might even power 2 with no overclock.

if your wrried about power and heat go for an ati 5850. i just dont get on with ati drivers

Hey

Cheers for the reply

Just seen a couple of threads on here ;P

My Psu is a corsair Vx550 550 Watt PSU will that still be enough to power it?

Also what do people think of the 560TI?

Regards Ryan

oops sorry. yeah the 560 would be perfect actually, cause your res aint so high, and the 560 is more recent.

good shout

would look at the 480 like peps say even though its power hungry beast of a card and future proof at least for 2-3 years. or see if you can get a 6950 and clock it to 6970 sure i've seen on overclockers for £210 a xfx

anyone know how i activate my 250 posts for free delivery??? ALMOST THERE WWOOOOOOOOOOOO ocuk here i come from now on!!

i can now not just use the blue n white people. dont use the orange so ocuk keep up the good deals

Hey

So looking at a fight between the 470, 460 TI or 6950?

Which one would be the best for my situation and i may want to upgrade my monitor soon ;)

Regards Ryan

I would recommend the 6950. There's the 2gb Asus version on offer atm. It's a good few percentage points faster than the 560, even when both are overclocked (according to Guru3d) and also has 2gb of ram. Plus, there is always the opportunity to unlock it a 6970.

Hey guys

Still tied between the 6950 and the 560'TI I like the 6950 and will be happy to unlock I possible but I keep seeing issues with AMD drivers. Also the card has more VRAM. However price has gone up.

560 has more stable drivers but is less powerful :(

What do ou guys think

Regards Ryan
