Hi all,

I have a 22'' L-2231WD DGM monitor at full res. 1680x1050.
And im using a Radeon 9200 - 256mb graphics card.

I am currently using a VGA lead, would i see an improvement if i upgrade to DVI?

Thanks :)

Ive just upgraded to DVI as well. I found leads for like £3-4, but bought one for £15, thought I might as well go for a better quality one if Im upgrading :)

How much would one be.

Well images/text will be a lot sharper/crisper using DVI compared to standard d-sub. Once you see it for yourself you'll wonder why you didn't make the move sooner.

You can get a decent cable fairly cheap these days too, some monitor manufacturers even supply them free.

You'll need to make sure you have a DVI out on your graphics card and a DVI in on your monitor, so check that first before you buy anything.

There's nothing stopping you giving it a go then, if you don't like it you could always sell the cable on, nothing to lose really.

Does it matter if i buy a £3 one or a £15 - its just a cable isnt it.
I dont want to spent a lot really.

I've just had a little look about and you can get a decent looking one for about a fiver. Some of them are too much really, you've got to watch you don't get caught up with all the sales jargon.

I'd probably pay £10-£15 max for a DVI cable, depending on what length is needed.

That sounds a bit too cheap to me, a bit too good to be true tbh, but you never know. If you order it and it turns out rubbish you haven't lost much I suppose.

I would link you to some decent ones but it's against the forum rules.

Some monitors don't show any real difference when using DVI as opposed to VGA, I wouldn't use the word "Definitely" unless you know the monitor.

Maybe so, I've yet to see one that doesn't look better with a DVI cable though.

Plus you've got the added benefits of not having to convert from digital <--> analogue, so even if it isn't better picture-wise you're still gaining.

To me it's a win-win, each to their own though :)

All the ones ive seen are single link - because it says this im assuming theres a dual link or something.
