Upgrade.....

Ahh its cracking me up now because I am a little short....
I may give them a ring and say I will buy the main PC with one card and the parts with another! The wife will know then though thats the only thing! lmao
Also I was wondering can you get high refresh rates on TFT's or LCD screens? I get mega high refresh rates on my Iiyama vision master pro CRT which is what I am going to be running my new rig on but I would like a widescreen flat soon enuf but the refresh rates on them seem to be rubbish, I have set a good few up for other people and installed the .inf drivers for them but still they only get 75hrtz refresh rate tops.

Options applied to the above product:
XFX ATI Radeon HD 4890 1GB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card - Inc. Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X

That one?
You know what I have never bought ATi before, always nvidia since my old GeForce 2 16mg in 1998, then again I have always built AMD Athlon systems too but I am more confident of buying Intel then I am about Ati Radeon. Do you really rate the Ati cards?

I prefer ATi cards this round. Its more based on the fact that they helped bring the outrageous prices charged by nvidia down to normal levels. When the GTX was initially introduced it cost about £100 more than the 4870, and the 4870 matched it.

So yeah, i say support the one who gives me the better value. Technically, the performance of GTX260-216 is equal to a 4870 1GB depending on game of course, some like nvidia more, some like ati more.

4890 is matched with the GTX275, bit is cheaper making it a better value. Many claim that the GTX is slightly faster but most reviews i have read claim that they trade blows evenly, depending on game and resolution (GTX performs better at 2560x20xx resolutions).

Just avoid GTX285, terrible value for money.

As has been said before, refresh rates on tfts don't matter. The game can still run at 300fps even with the screen set to 60. Tfts only refresh the pixels that change, not the whole screen x amount of times a second.

Ah right that clears it up for me as I have been pondering on that for some time without bothering to read about it on net.

OMG I have had some trouble with my bank and just got it sorted now and I have had the Titan Goliath system in my basket for the last few days, Overclockers even rang my house yesterday to say the order had not gone through. Anyway I get my finances sorted and just go to order it and the special offer is GONE!!
It must have been pulled off in the last half hour! I wouldnt mind but its not even in my basket now either as I run a cleaner at noon!
All the crap I have had in the last few days with my bank and now this happens!!

The Ultima Vanquish is now on Offer with the same spec but it does not list what PSU is in it and its onlym a 16mg cached HD as opposed to the 32mg in the Goliath.
That one is a little too much I think anyway, gutted I wish I had kept the Goliath in my basket at the special offer price.

I have bought a 64bit OS to utilise my full 6 gig of memory. I was at first trying to weigh up the pros and cons of each, the 32bit OS with full compatibility with all apps and stuff which wont see my full 6 gig OR the 64bit OS which I may have trouble running certain older things on but will see my full 6 gig memory.
Anyway I end up choosing the 64bit OS and now I have just been told that the 32bit Vista OS actually DOES see the full 6 gig of ram WITH the latest service pack>? Is this correct?
I am worried that my old games such as Conflict global storm etc will not work anymore on my 64bit system and other apps like camera utils etc....

If i had the money, this is what i would choose:

VAT added = £887

Thats basically whats in the Goliath plus a lil more.
It does say that the Goliath has a 32mg cached HD@500gig but I can only see one there like that with a 16mg cache and the one with the 32mg is a 1.5tb HD

Ah IC maybe it is, it does say its a seagate barracuda though, any thoughts on my other query about 32bit Vista OS supporting 6gig of memory with the new service pack?

Yes thats what I understood too but last night I was told that Vista32bit version allows your OS to see the full 6gig with the new service pack that has just come out for it.
Also a little advice if you know, will my older games work on the 64bit OS? Ones that are years old? I am mainly worrying about SOF1 which is 10 years old but I have run a clan in that game since 2000 and then I want Conflict global storm to work too as I play that with my son every weekend.

Worst case scenario you can dual-boot... Vista 64 and XP 32.

You should look at the games forums to see whether its compatible with 64 bit, i have no idea about it! |Ususally there are work arounds... needs searching though.

Ok mate thanks, I cant wait for my delivery now! I want to play GTA4 and Cod5,Cod modern warfare 2 will be well better as it is made by Infinity Ward as opposed to that dreadfull treyarch but its not out yet so ill play world at war in the meantime and gta4

Ah I have had a nightmare with this, I got the Titan Goliath system after much persuasion from my son and parted with a grand for it.Anyway I spent the last week anxiously waiting for my new system and got a call today in work to say it is here! Whahey! I went straight to the game shop and bought GTA4 and CoD5 and raced home to set up my new system and play my games.

When I took my tower out of the parcel I could feel something inside it knocking about, I opened up the side and to my absolute horror the big massive Asaka Nero heatsink was crashed right onto my Asus GTX285 1024 card, even the fins have been bent on the heatsink! How it has come off the board I dont know. The plastic plugs that plug into the mobo are also in a bad state, it has obviously been knocked about in transit and the whole thing has fell off the board onto my card!
I put the heatsink and fan back on and powered it up and hoped for the best and thought if it worked ok I would take that on the chin as last thing I wanted to do was send it back because I also had my son with me too ready and waiting to play!
Anyway I powered it up and it just keeps bloeeping and restarting, my sons in tears and I am covered in artic white thermal compound! Great!

I must stress that the build seems fine though and in no way do I feel it is Overclockers fault although I do feel that now I should not have been lazy and once again like always built it myself! At least that way the parts would not have been damaged!
I hope I dont have any trouble changing the rig as I dont want the same graphics card now!
Its a real shame as Overclockers have gone to the trouble of really packaging it nicely around the outside but its the space inside the tower and the impact of when it has been in transit that has done it!
ABSOLUTELY GUTTED! In fact I might have had a tear in my eye myself when I was trying to comfort my son!

I tried to ring earlier but the offices were shut, I may ask them not to attach the Asaka Nero this time around to prevent this happening again!

I wouldnt mind hearing from anyone else who has had anything damaged in transit....how and how quickly was it rectified?

I would build your own, it will be cheaper, you will get what you want and its fun.I just built one on saturday and it took me 2 hours to do it in.
I would invest extra in a roomy case so that your not fiddling in tight space.
