Upgradeing from a X1800XTPE ??? what card should i buy ?

well he should have listened to the 100 people in the first place, why did he bother posting if he knew he definetely wanted one in the first place,
also dont tell me your now gonna downgrade from a dual core 4800 to an fx-57, please tell us what your cpu is and which single core you are looking to buy before you make any more mistakes
total lunacy is the words your after, why the hell did he buy a card with just about the best stock cooler in existance, then go waste his money on a zalman VF900, it'll proberbly not even cool any better, hell why 'upgrade' from X1800XT to X1900XTX, there pretty much the same card

I have to agree though i bought the card on a impulse buy lol but im still happy to have one and to be useing it tommorow
though the vga cooler will be getting sent back to OCUK for a refund, i thought this cooler wasnt going to be up to scratch becuse of a few reviews i read but from the looks of it and the replys in here i did make a mistake there.
but there is no need to keep digging away at me.
and no i dont have any braincells missing. lol

I see a lot of jelousy in this post, ofcourse you are all allowed to have an opinion BUT calling the man "Stupid" is way out of line.
Maybe he just enjoys having the latest technology and must have something going for him if he can afford to do it. Obviously he could have won the lottery or got the money from his parents but its more than likely that he is a clever man with a job that pays well enough to enduldge in the latest parts.
I hope everything goes well with the X1900 and you will see a speed increase and be more futureproof no matter what anyone else says.

either way the x1900xt is a better card. even if your still stuck to the same resolution im sure the x1900xt will allow you to add more AA and AF to your games.
i know oblivion will benefit a lot from the x1900xt especially when hdr and aa is used at the same time.

Not really, as the X1800XT can handle pretty much any game out at 1280x1024, and that includes Oblivion too. With Oblivion specifically he will also face serious CPU limitation, here are some benchmarks: -Cyber-Mav said:

Think ill upgrade my 1800 for a 1900 when i get my new Conroe system.
Im even worse as i got my 1800 then few weeks later the 1900 came out. Most vexing.
Tho i think the 1900 will be better as i have a 20.1" 1680x1050 monitor and that does push the 1800 sometimes.
Also i think the crap P4 i have slows me down.

With at 20" monitor at 1680x1050 you'd definitely notice an improvement, unlike this guy would at 1280x960, especially when you have a Conroe running in there (up to +50% on Oblivion minimum FPS, as an example.)Fanatic said:Think ill upgrade my 1800 for a 1900 when i get my new Conroe system.

Adding AA to the HDR doesn't make a difference due to CPU limitation. I run in 1600x1200 with HDR and AA myself and I am still CPU limited (but my CPU is crap.)Cyber-Mav said:
As I said, what you would really need to see a difference between the X1800XT and X1900XT at 1280x1024 is a Conroe E6600 or better.
