Man of Honour
Im a 3090, 4090 purchaser but £2k is pushing it a bit

Yeah like I said, many may genuinely ened new cases and PSUs and case cooling solutions if they decide a 5090 is on the cards lol.
4 slots.......................
That image floating around showing the 4 slot cooler is no joke either.
I got a 3070 for MSRP on launch, then decided I wanted a 3080 instead. Returned the 3070 and couldn't get another card for ages... eventually got a very over-priced 3060ti.I got wrecked waiting for a 3080.
Was a happy man married to a 2070 super. 3080 announced, i sold her for £400 anticipating the 3080 launch.
Launch day, i got nothing as the 3080 stock got gangbanged by scalpers and bots.
Story ends with me living with a 1060 for a few weeks and ending up spending more than double to get a 3090.
Lesson... just wait.

It was a horrid moment for gamers.
God it is a pain to sell and buy used sometimes. Had a laugh when I read that, reminded me of when I wanted to sell my 1 year old 65" 4K TV and put the price at 60% of the original price which was already pretty low even compared to current market at the time. Dude DMed me offering a speedy collection if I wanted to sell it for 60 quid. I mean on one hand an offer is just that, an offer, and if it works it works but on the other hand I'm like "what universe do you exist in DUUUDE!!". My thoughts on the matter was much more profane but I'll keep it family friend. Mods can I get a cookie for good behaviour?I don't think scalpers will go anywhere near the 5090.
If it is really £2200-2500, then it's too much risk selling it unless it's cash on collection, which ebay does not allow now. Facebook marketplace gets all bunch of people who will want it for £300. Not worth the hassle.
Yeah so annoying buying and selling now a days.God it is a pain to sell and buy used sometimes. I's not 1 way tho....Yeah so annoying buying and selling now a days.
That is the funniest thing of FB marketplace, offers 50% value with "ILL COLLECT TODAY! CASH IN HAND"... Lol
Its both ends really. Lowballers and people who genuinely believes that their GTX 970 is still worth the retail value 10 years later. "Only used lightly and not for mining"I's not 1 way tho....
with chancers trying to sell way more than new prices using "R@re" and what not in their adds.
yes some people like to low ball but some sellers can but just as delusional
Nothing.. if something is running poorly on a 4090 or hardware similar to it, I would take a deeper look at what the game does wrong and not go "I need faster hardware". To many times have I, back when I was young and dumb, bought the latest and greatest hardware thinking it would fix a games performance only to then find out it didn't. Even if it did, you play that game for 40 hours top and the rest of your library didn't need an upgrade to play well. Whats the point then?Wrong side of middle aged man "boring" warning but out of curiosity what is there which a 4090 struggles with to need an upgrade? I still have a 3090 and I always planned to skip the 4000 gen and get a 5000 but tbh I am thinking I may skip another gen as well. the difference between the absolute top tier bells and whistles are barely noticeable , 8k gaming is simply not worth it unless you have a 100inch+ screen.
the only thing which really makes me wish I had a bit more poke is my vr headset but tbh PCVR has also stalled somewhat as well.
all imo of course but unless money really is no object I am not sure the need to upgrade a 4090.
it's not like the old days of c64 to Amiga or PS1 to PS2 (or S3 virge to 3DFX to put a pc spin on it)
maybe when star citizen drops it will do what strike commander did to high end PCs at the time..... but personally I have already upgraded once to be star citizen ready. (2 GPUs ago)....... now I am waiting till the game actually comes out of alpha before deciding what is needed.
