4090 pricing was influenced by the 3090ti flopping at $2000. The 4090 launched over 2 months before AMD came to market so Nvidia wouldn't have known prices and would have only had a rough idea of performance considering even AMD didn't seem to know their own cards performance given their pre launch showcase figures.

If NVIDIA and ARM had merged we'd have had some sweet PC synergies..
I think £1800ish is where this is going to come in at, given the cost of living expenses this is ultra luxury - however most of us don't go t'pub or buy fancy addidas pumps every week so we should be able to convince our wives.
Its a shame this time it will be GPU+Iphone+Mobo CPU this time, that's a good holiday in Crete for 3 in a nice resort.. but that wont keep me warm in winter eh

Probably knowing full well that AMD have nothing to bring to the market this time round so it's going to be one hell of a Monopoly this year so expect high prices and man made supply shortages because they can.
Might even see bots again this year. It's a good time to skip a gen if you own a high end 40s series model already.

Unless the 5090 is a big step up from the 4090 and there is even any games that will need a 5090 very few people will bother buying one if the price is even more crazy.

Just thinking of myself if it's capable of 4K 240hz with all the bells and whistles, or 1440p 360/480hz across a lot more games than at the moment, that'd be a big selling point for me, and I'd probably be in the 5-10% at best that cares that much about those things I gather.
I can already see the game that may push many people to buy a 5090 (or 5080) which is going to be GTA 6

My 4090 only gets around 55fps with all the bells and whistles on at only 3440 x 1440 in RDR2
Also the same 50 odd FPS in MS FS 2020 with all the bells and whistles on at 3440 x 1440
God know how much lower the FPS would be at 4K

Yeah the reason why the 4090 sold well was that it had a big perf increase over a 3090 with only a small price bump so if the perf increase for a 5090 is less while the price bump is large then I doubt it’ll be very popular.
This gen also had a lot of people step up to the 4090 who generally buy an 80 class owing to the 4080 being such a poor buy and I doubt they’ll be looking to upgrade again so soon having paid double what they’d have traditionally spent.
And another reason the 4090 sold well is so many people couldn't get hold of a 3000 series till it was to late and was near the end of it life cycle
and also a lot of people held off buying a 2000series & 3000series due to the high prices and then ended up realising the prices were not going to drop so paid out for a 4000series

Guessing that's all native, could swear I was getting 100+ @5120x1440 on RDR2. Probably had dlss on I guess.
What knocks the FPS for six i think is me setting the AA to 8x or 16x or whatever the max setting was
Same with MS FS2020 turning the AA settings to up to the very max setting tanks the FPS but i think it looks much better

Am just a bit old fashioned and still just whack up the AA to stupid levels like i used to in my SLI setup days,
Remember when i used to install rivatuner many years ago so i could increase the AA up to 32x on older games, I thought it used to make an amazing difference to the way they looked
