upgrading for Battlefield 4

Because an upgrade for BF4 has nothing to do with Steamroller, and it's utterly pointless arguing over something that is purely speculation.

I wasn't the one throwing about blanket "almost" guarantees.

I'm just cautious, because I wouldn't really like to recommend someone something on the basis of an upgrade path that might be taken away.

Ideally I,d like to at least try the 965BE and see what happens with a little overclocking
I could always buy an 8320 later and if SR fits that's a bonus I suppose.
The most important thing for me would be the mobo to go with the memory ive been given.
I don't mind spending a little extra on this and ideally with the xfire option

I didn't mention Steamroller anywhere in this thread before you brought it up. I was recommending things based on what the developers have said. I'd be shocked if Steamroller does require a new socket, but even if it does, it wouldn't change my recommendation for BF4.

If you could up the budget, I'd definitely recommend socket 1150 with a 4670K.
Nothing wrong the FX8320 route however.

What other games you plan on playing ; Rome Total War 2?

I know it wasn't you that mentioned SR, but you pipped into the "discussion" then as soon as a counter point is made, you just go all whacko, just like now.

And my mention of SR made perfect sense given my original post.

Doom's spec's are good in my opinion, but good spot hono on the cooler/case sizes, so that will need to be changed.

Regarding Intel vs AMD, take your pick :)

AMD may be a slightly better choice for BF4 though.

There's a B-Grade MSI board that's gen 3 at 50 quid in the clearance section, that'll solve the "issue" with PCI-E bandwidth (Seeing tests of a 6990 at 4x, I can't imagine 4x 2.0 hitting a 7870, 4x 3.0 will be perfectly fine)

A Thuban second hand can be had for peanuts, and BF4 will use the cores, he's instantly got an extra 50% CPU at his disposal, and BF3 can max out a Thuban if it's low clocked, BF4 will be able to do the same.

Most cost effective upgrade.

I'm in two minds about SR, mainly because I see a lot of AM3+ recommendations based on SR upgrade path, and I wouldn't be surprised if AMD turned around and brought a new socket out.

Yes I was "stung" from AMD. I was supposed to have Bulldozer as an upgrade from the PhenomII but that never worked out. Bulldozer was a flop anyway so I soon got over it.

It's incredibly rare for me to spec the AM3+ socket, I've learned not to expect too much from AMD and I will fight tooth and nail to try and get people onto the intel setup.

I don't resort to personal insults in disagreements as you have been doing. I've made my points in this thread completely clear and they're completely reasonable. If they're so utterly wrong, I'm sure others will comment rather than you taking it upon yourself to do so every day.

I own both amd and intel quad cores (i have the 955 black edition) i was on amd to start and putting my same gfx card from amd quad core 8gb of ddr3 to the 3570k and 8gb (un clocked at the time).
i saw a vast improvments in my games fps. im not a fan boy if you make valid point im always willing to listen but i find intel better just now for sure.

Who said they're wrong

You can't join a conversation/discussion then freak out when someone raises a point, it's just weird.

I own both amd and intel(phenom 955 &3570k) the main difference for me is the phenom frame rate drops off ,where as the ivy chip tends too keep things running smoother, since building my intel set up ive not had one freeze or stutter,
