Upgrading for Crysis?

Almost certainly will be, Bioshock isn't that demanding, I've definitely got more demanding games in my collection! I suspect most of it is down to the relatively low-quality textures used in Bioshock - they make good use of them but they're not all that
To be fair I was told Bioshock wouldn't have a chance on my x1900xt. I'll wait for the Crysis demo since nobody ACTUALLY knows what it'll run like until then

well after reviews, up and personal testing at lan events, with specs revealed, there is some evidence of what it will look and play like on certain machine, and hat is a basis of grounding what the game will run like on beter/worse systems... correct me if im wrong

EDIT: cba to change typoes, but for those curious as to why there are many, this is the first time ive used a latop for years, last coupld of days ive not spealt one sentance correctly.

Meh, if it'll only run at medium detail I won't care. If the gameplay's any good the graphics won't matter to me

exactly, he games mean to be the next true gn of games lol, on medium i bet £1000000 it will still look better than most year old games lol, the engine its self is going to blow everything away (supposably)

Only a few weeks until the demo comes out now anyway isn't it? Then we'll all know for sure.

Yeah demo's out on the 25th. Although I'll probably be too caught up in playing Halo 3 to remember

I've been pretty chuffed with my x1900, hasn't really choked on anything so far, except Everquest 2, but that seemed to choke everything anyway. I think it helps that games seem to be making better use of dual core too. Crysis will certainly test it though I'm sure.

Yeah It's been able to run anything I've thrown at it running at 1440x900 with full detail.
Crysis will not have DX10.1. The game has been developed from the ground up on DX10. Im pretty sure they stated somewhere that it wont be included. Ill try to find it.
Well i think its both is it not? And yes Microsoft did announce DX10.1 as a future update.

when exactly do we expect SP1 and dx10.1 cards though?
Nymins my point was its built on 9.0c from the ground up, with the odd extra dx10 feature where possible.
Saying it was built from the ground up on dx10 AND dx9.0c would mean in effect making 2 engines..
And saying it was built from ground up on dx10 would mean carp dx9 performance..if any

Makes sense. I thought it would have needed to be made from the start in DX10 rather than implementing DX10 features into a DX9 engine which would cause performance issues (basically the reverse of your last line).

Do not upgrade for one game alone until you know how it is going to run. What is the harm in waiting, just to be sure? Besides, it is possible that Crysis may slip another month or maybe more.
