Upgrading from 1366! Spec me a build to go with 3080ti

Thanks for your reply.

The patriot viper has higher latency doesnt it? CAS 18 vs 16. Do you think the Corsair Vengeance DDR4 32GB cas 16 for £150 elsewhere would be a better option?

The RMx is slightly better quality than the RM isnt it? From my understanding the fan will be a bit quiter etc

I dont really need pcie4, but I think I will go for it anyhow!
Cas 18 to cas 16 isn't worth 50% more in cost for a few fps imo .

Rmx is better quality both have 10 year warranty not sure on the fan noise but i think thats down to when the psu was built plus 30% more in cost, best check out some reviews. .

Yes, wait until CES tomorrow before you commit.
What time tomorrow? Do you think prices will change all that much?

I'm minded just to go for it and place an order today /tomorrow, just because I am on holiday until Wednesday, and I am not l sure I will have the mental capacity to think about this when I return to work!

15:00 for AMD tomorrow, but obviously not saying the prices will change instantly, however their could be an entire new lineup of desktop CPU's being announced. However if you really can't wait then buy what you've listed but with better/less expensive RAM.

Any thoughts on this?

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,313.90 (includes shipping: £0.00)

Im getting a case elsewhere as ocuk have sold out, im thinking of going for the meshify 2

I wasnt really sure what to go with for the aio. I figured a bigger radiator would be quieter as the fans wouldnt need to run as fast? I was choosing between the kraken and the corsair h100/h150

The RAM seems to have gone up in price a bit since mickyflinn suggested it. I couldnt tell that ocuk are stocking equivelent speed RAM for less at the moment?
I have seen Corsair Vengeance DDR4 32GB cas 16, for about £150 elsewhere, would that be a good alternative?

forget 850w psu and look 1000w. u got 3080ti gpu. main m.2 get 500gb wd sn850 with heatsink around £96 - look around, google. secondary storage ssd and you will be fine, instead of £274.99 you can get a little bit cheaper and afford 1000w psu.

Thanks for pointing that out. What would you suggest as an alternative?

6°c between best and worst is not a big deal and listing further into the review all boards can handle a 12700k and temps are within acceptable limits. He states its a balance of which boards gives you acceptable features.

Maybe rewatch.

Thanks, I watched the whole video now.

The auros elite has the Realtek ALC1220-VB, whereas something like the MSI tomahawk has the Realtek ALC4080.

I have heard that the latter has some issues? so in this regard the gigabyte is better?

true, they can all handle 12700k, 10 degrees diff between the tuf and the gigabyte board, and with 12900k that diff was 15 degrees, 14 degrees with the tomahawk. If just going to keep existing cpu and not do any overclocking(don't myself) then all good. If down the line you maybe put a 13900k in then I'd consider the tuf or tomahawk as better thermals...the 3080ti doesn't exactly run cool either so any advantage of keeping the inside of the pc a bit cooler is good in my view...seen the tomahawk for £244 so only £15 more than the gigabyte board. Just showing options etc

Keeping temps down is jmoprtant It's a balancing act like the review says but this not like the b560 gen issiues on lower end boards.

There is a couple options in the review

Which board would you choose ?

I'm not sure on the audio issiue so go for what you feel comfortable with.

A quick question about some of the aio's. The store page often has a statement like:

"If you require a bracket for Socket LGA 1700 you can get one for free from HERE"

I am assuming that the ones they are selling now should already have the required bracket bundled with them? and that this statement was for people who bought the aio and then subsequently bought a lga1700 board?

Not necessarily true as many stores will have lots of older stock hence the link to a bracket so unless it specifically states you would need to order a bracket.

Alternative is that overclockers are providing free skt 1700 bracket with the Arctic freezer coolers.

Look at free items.

2 weeks ago would have been the tuf as you got a £70 rebate from Asus with puchase of a 12700k...bit trickier now...seen tuf for £255, and toma for £244....does the gigabyte board have bluetooth as well as wifi? Can't see in spec and gigabyte website says page not found everytime I click on the aorus elite page...

I've got the top one with the triangle shaped mesh. It's the new version(2021-) of the one below(2018-2021). They've upgraded some components and also changed the fan. The new fan uses magnetic levitation, so is much more durable. Downside is under load it's slightly louder than the previous one(though still quiet compare to competition). In practice, haven't heard it in my rig yet. Up to 400W I don't think the fan even spins up, and under load my 3080/aio fans prob makes more noise, so I couldn't def say which fan in my pc was the loudest.
