Looking for a nice solid upgrade guys, willing to spend up to about £300. I do a lot of gaming on my PC and not much else so not particularly interested in hyperthreading or anything like that, unless it does acutally provide a reasonable boost to performance?

Cheers :)

It's seriously not worth it.. Bang up the multiplier and to 45, a little extra vcore and bobs your uncle.

Invest the cash in a new GC or a SSD if you haven't one already :)

Oh wow thanks for the replies guys. I'm rocking a 780ti at present and no, it's never been overclocked (my CPU I mean). It's just something I wouldn't feel particularly comfortable doing as I'm a little bit noobish when it comes to stuff like that. It's probably a heck of a lot easier then I think it is but still...

I had me 3570k upto 4.5 ghz easy enough with the help you get on the forums.

You will be able to get that or more easy enough provided you have the wright cooling, what is you case and full systems specs?

Post the rest of your specs motherboard / cpu cooling etc im sure we can get you started with a few simple intructions

Ahhh thanks a bunch guys! At the mo I'm rocking a 780ti which has never been OC'd and is running with the stock fan, 8GB of DDR3 gaming ram (sorry, I cant quite remember the speed), a pre built Antec Kuhler 920 for the CPU, an Asus Xonar Essence and it all sits on an ASRock Z77 Extreme. Oh, and the case is an NZXT Phantom I believe. Just let me know if I missed anything out :)

Again, OC that 3570k and be done with it. What case do you have? Maybe get a windowed case with some LEDs and braided cables? :D

The only reason you would want to upgrade to say an i7 is if you use multi gpu set up, my 3570k bottle necks my cards slightly but overall if I didn't have an overlay on you wouldn't know everything is still silky smooth

3570k is not worth upgrading from. It is a fine cpu and even better when clocked. Got mine clocked to 4.7ghz and theres nothing it cant handle. Keep it for another few gens a least, since cpu releases these days are no more than about 10% increase in perfomance overall.
