Upgrading from 8GB to 16GB on a Haswell system

For what reason did you need the ram?
been doing some 3d rendering - still goes over 32gb sometimes
Some rendering apps will literally eat every last bit of ram you can throw at them. Rendering out a 4K HDR time lapse in lightroom for example, will consume every last bit of the 64gb DDR4 in my system. There are so many photography and rendering apps that hit the ram hard, lightroom is just the best example of that kind of app that I can think off as It never really gets massively core heavy and when it does it's poorly threaded but it does hit the disk subsystem (scratchdisk) and memory pretty hard. Good choice upgrade I think, haswell still certainly has some life in it imo especially for some 1080p gaming. Productivity wise I think they still do ok but are certainly starting to show their age, I recently replaced the marketing departments machines and went from haswell 4590's to 8500's as for whatever reason they had been filming 4k content and been trying to edit it in premier, timeline performance in premier with just haswell i5 and no gpu at 4k is just not good. I mean it's not great on an 8500 either but you can make it at least workable. Obviously the K series 4790's like yours with a decent overclock have more legs in them but for me id be looking for a change up probably in 1.5 to 2 years max if you want to get any return on the hardware.
Yep rendering will consume all the cpu
64 threads would be nice but on the desktop ill settle for my 32. TR3 might make me upgrade but im happy with this.
