Upgrading from a Celeron

Venice is best for overclocking wise and such. All have 512KB L2 cache and rated @ 2000MHz.

Is thwe newcastle not 2200Mhz?I'm fairly sure the old Newcastle 3000 is 2000Mhz and they managed to get it down to 1.8Ghz with same performance with winchester.

Someone correct me if im wrong?

You are correct but your forgetting the socket change

The Socket 754 3000+ Newcastle chip ran at 2GHz. The new Socket 754 Venice chips also run at 2GHz

Socket 939 is faster clock for clock so the clocks were reduced on the Socket 939 chips so that they'd perform at the same speed

If you could find one, you could upgrade to a 2.53Ghz or 2.66Ghz P4, which would be a reasonable boost. You could even go up to a 3.06Ghz P4 with hyperthreading. I dont know how easy they would be to find though.
