Hi All,
I am looking at upgrading my current hardware. What could i do with £700 for the following components?

Case
Motherboard
CPU
RAM

got the rest already.

What size case are you after? How much RAM do you need? What is the main use of your PC? Any particular colour theme you are going for? 700 quid tho should get you something tidy for sure.

The PC will be used for gaming.
My current hardware is:
AMD Phenom II x6 1045t cpu
Asrock M3A770DE motherboard
1600MHz RAM
64GB SSD
2TB hardrive

Im not fussy about case. just needs usb 3.0 ports on front.

Very quick list of things. The case comes with a CPU cooler so that could be a win win as the stock cooler just can't hack it!

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-4690K 3.50GHz (Devil's Canyon) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £199.99
1 x Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 7 Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £127.99
1 x Cooler Master CM-690 III - USB 3.0 ATX Case - Seidon Promotion Free cooler Master Seidon £99.95
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan RED 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLRED38G2400HC11CDC01) £50.99
Total : £493.02 (includes shipping : £11.75).

You should be fine with the Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 5 but there are no stock currently on OCUK. Well under your 700 quid budget so plenty of money left for some fans etc. What graphics card are you running?

750W PSU will be fine for that card...
Any preference on card e.g. Nvidia or AMD? The CPU will be fine.
The Z97X gaming 3 or 5 mobo's cost 104 and 110 respectively so more saved there.

Swings and roundabouts mate. 970 or 980 is the way to go if you want Nvidia. 970 has VRAM issues. 3.5GB at the stated speed and then 0.5GB and considerably less speed nstead of the stated 4GB, and cost 280 upwards give or take a few pounds. 980s are the top of the range, start 400 pounds and upwards of 600. Unless you want a Titan.....

AMD 280/280X will full into your price bracket nicely and provide good performance. Close to that of the 970 if you get a 290/290X which are about 250ish!

Might be worth just browsing through some of the threads in the graphics card section to see personal thoughts and experiences of people that own the cards.

What resolution do you use btw?
