Upgrading my SSD

the sequential speeds are slightly lower on m500. possibly even IOPS by a bit. that's about it. nothing you'll be able to notice.

what you do notice though is the 37 quid price difference.

I really don't care about benchmarks, but I'm sure you can google some.

Pro is not competitively priced for average consumers.

Evo is ok, but as said. I wouldn't pay that much more over m500. 10-15 quid maybe.

Ok so I have installed my new Samsung Evo 250GB and these are the benchmark comparisons:

OCZ Vertex 2E 60GB

Samsung Evo 250GB

Quite a considerable difference I can see. Does the Samsung seem high enough to you guys?

Thanks :)

Your Samsung should be achieving double the read/write speeds then that..

I notice on the benchmark it says "pciide - BAD" that means you are running your motherboard in IDE mode, you should be in AHCI mode. ;)

Try follow this then re-run the benchmark, you will be surprised at the difference.

Thanks a lot for the response.

I did notice that but just assumed that it was a good thing lol. I'm sure I did this in the BIOS originally though? =/

Cheers :)

How's this:

Thanks Sparx for the help :)

Good stuff! Spot on. You should now go venture into the Samsung Magician software and enable RAPID mode.

Then re-run the benchmark again if you'd like to double those figures (again).. :D

waste of time - he's on sata-II

let's all move along to the next thread

You obviously have no clue what you are talking about.
