Does Windows 8 have an option for normal desktop environment? I'm just thinking that the Metro interface will be great for touchscreens, but mouse/kb users will prefer the old style?
I'd also go with Windows 8. It's a bit of an adjustment coming from Windows 7 but once you get over the omg where'd my start button go thing you're fine.
Download the Windows 8 evaluation, try it for up to 90 days - then if you like it, buy it, if you don't, go for 7 instead (do give yourself a fair chance to get used to it though).
It'll be far more productive than trawling wearily through "Windows 8 sucks/Windows 8 rules" ***** fest no. #879652...
