I have an ESXi machine running a number of VMs that uses a Dell Perc 6i RAID card. I need to update the firmware of said card, but MegaRAID claims the RedHat .bin file downloaded from this Dell page is invalid.

If however, I download the "Hard-Drive" version ("SAS_RAID_PERC6i-int_6.3.3-0002_A00_ZPE.exe") from the same page, run it, and then go into the created driver folder, there is a .rom file:

MegaRAID seems to think this file is fine, but I'm reluctant to click it.

Is using the .rom from the .exe download directly through MegaRAID okay? I'm sure it probably is, but would appreciate some confirmation :)

Those version numbers look legit, I'd go for it.

edit, as with any firmware/partition work, take a full backup first.

Updated the OP as realised I'd written it wrong (d'oh!).

Thanks bledd, if I don't hear anything to the contrary I'll do the upgrade tomorrow morning :)

EDIT: All good (though I did initially have the wrong version)
