I currently have a Seasonic M12D 750W, and think I'm right at the edge of its use, at least I believe so, as I'm getting a few issues popping up when I connect things to USB ports on the comp, saying they aren't running at the correct speeds - have updated usb ports on the mobo and so on.

Current system is -

Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail - Running at 4.5GHz
Crucial RealSSD M4 128GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive (CT128M4SSD2)
Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB SATA 6Gb/s 16MB Cache - OEM (WD5000AAKX)
MSI ATI Radeon HD 6970 2048MB Twin Frozr III GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Corsair Vengeance Low Profile 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CML8GX3M2A1600C9) [CML8GX3M2A1600C9] - 16gb of.
Noctua NH-D14 Dual Radiator CPU Cooler (Socket LGA1366/LGA1156/LGA1155/LGA775/AM2/AM2)

Blu-ray drive, DVD-RW and a load of other fans.

Currently connected to USB is an old logitech G15 keyboard, a G5 mouse and a Zune dock.

I've done the PSU calculator thing and its coming up at around 650w. That's obviously not taking into consideration the extra power draw from the graphics card, so, to me atleast it looks like its pretty much on the limit.

So, I'm thinking it needs an upgrade, but I'm not sure what. The Seasonic has been excellent, but sourcing an actual Seasonic PSU is nigh on impossible it seems, however I believe they do make PSU's for a few other brands, XFX?

What would be the recommended PSU in my situation?

Not 100% sure what wattage you'd need but XFX psu's are absolutely lovely. I picked up one last month to replace my rubbish FSP psu. Its soo quite compared to the old one.

As far as I know there made by seasonic so there quite the bargain in my opinion

I certainly don't want to downgrade from a 750w PSU to a 650w PSU :P

Considering my GPU has a TDP of 269w, if I ever did want to crossfire I'd need something around the 1000w mark, and fully modular.

Sigh.

Please re-read the first post. My current output is around 650w, and that is not taking into consideration the additional draw from the overclocked GPU! I have a 750w PSU that is running out of power, how exactly do you expect a second GPU, which using around 270w, to be ok on an 850w PSU!

First of all, good system spec.

Seasonic make good PSU's and as you said 650w + 270w means that an 850w will not do the job.

You are looking at a Corsair HX1050 approx £180, or the Corsair AX range for even more pennies.

Anx XFX at 1050w or above is going to cost you £200 or more.

Some , like me, like their PSU to cruise at around 60% to 70% of maximum ouput most of the time.

You pay for quality and get what you pay for.

oh sorry my bad where you said psu calculator i thought you ment that **** inter app thing (or do you mean that) bucause it is sooo unreliable because for my current rig it reccomended a 950w psu and i am using an 850w and my drane from the wall is only 760 full load with a large oc on cpu and both gpus! with fur mark and prime and hdtune running (and thats taking into account the energy lost as heat in the psu about 20%)

and also how do you know it is running out of power!! if it is just your usb problem because usb run at 5v and have a max current of 1A so 5*1 = 5w (maximum load on a usb) so if you plug 8 usb lets say that is a maximum load of 40w (which will never happen) and you say you are running at 650w that will give you 60w left and an oc on a gpu is not going to take 60w unless you are ocing it a hudge amount
