It's been a while and I've been playing BF4 Beta, and yes I know it's a beta so the release may or may not run more smoothly, but my rig seems to struggle somewhat when playing. Hoping it's just a GFX issue in which case the upgrade won't have to be major.

Current Specs:

CPU: i5 760 + Akasa AK-CC4009EP01
Mobo: Gigabyte P55A-UD4
Ram: 8GB Corsair XMS3 4 x 2GB
GFX: MSI N470GTX M2D12
HDD: Samsung HD103SJ + WD storage HDD's
PSU: OCZ 700W StealthXStream
Been looking at the Asus HD 7970 DirectCU II TOP 3072MB GDDR5

Would I see any issues with just upgrading GFX to said card or should I be digging a bit deeper overall? Hard to put a budget it on it without knowing which area's need looking at...

Any help is appreciated. :)

im afraid to say your going to need a big upgrade, i have the same CPU and running a 7990 and its a real bottleneck

a single 7970 will be bottlenecked by the i5 760

how much will you have to play with?

Really, anywhere from £500-1000 but as I don't spend a lot of time gaming any more due to work and other hobbies i was going to try and get by with a minor upgrade for the time been. The case could be a problem for a H100? Lian Li PC-V1100Plus, which is very old now!

The i5 is clocked to 3.8GHz at the moment.

i5 760 OCed to 3.4GHz will not hold back 1 HD7970 in most games.

Looks like I might as well go all out, and upgrade case to a Corsair Carbide Air 540. What's the second hand market like for shifting older parts?
