Evening all just a quick Question really has anybody recently upgraded from windows 7 to 10 lately and regret it im looking at maybe upgrading. But heard bad reports about audio drivers exc. And people saying wish they never upgraded. Just that most things work on 10 now like Hue Sync which is mainly 10 only and im starting to think is it worth upgrading now

I had a play with Windows 7 the other week whilst building my new PC. No drivers for my motherboards USB chipset so had a use a USB to PS2 adapter to use either my keyboard or mouse but only one at a time then download the Windows 7 motherboard drivers from MSI. My opinion is it sucks much prefer Windows 10, Windows 7 feels so basic.

Still on W7 64.

I've lost count of the number of threads i've seen on W10 borking about with updates.

That's unfortunate, but surprised really. When I was toying with the idea of even a B450 board the MSI one I was looking at has W7 64 drivers for the chipset.

Think i'll hang on and hopefully by the time Zen2 is out Steamplay will be more evolved and i'll just switch to Linux for gaming.

Yeah it does have the all the drivers for the motherboard on the MSI site, problem is you need to download them first on another PC and then have some way to control the machine to install them. If you don't have a PS2 keyboard and mouse or a USB to PS2 adapter then USB keyboards and mice won't work until you've installed the drivers.

Ah sorry, yeah right I get what you're saying.

Always get some people with issues on any OS, personally never had any issues with my two Win10 PCs and I have had them since day one of 10 release with overclocked cpu and video card, my brother upgraded from Win7 a few years ago and is quite happy with 10.

End of the day 7 is on it's way out so sooner or later people with have to go to 10 or Linux, I use both ie 10 for gaming and Linux for fun.

Getting back to the first post and the question nicknack35 asked, simple truth is only way to find out is to do the upgrade yourself, you'll get feedback from both sides of the fence, but that does not help you since you will only find out if YOU do the actual upgrade with your own hardware etc.... Everybodys PC usage and hardware is different and even those that get issues have different issues so again only way to find out is to do the upgrade yourself, just backup anything important before hand.
Ironically I have my stuff backed up twice but never had to use it, I can't speak for other users however since we all have different experiences both good and bad.

I'm very happy with Win10 and my Linux :) .

This is a gripe that is putting me off. Windows 7 is working great for me but a lot of things like Hue Sync just don't work on 7. But im thinking if i upgrade will i get the hassle like a lot of others are having. So in other words why fix something that isn't broken

Think i might give it a blast. Its just the Audio drivers that i have heard on 10 have give people the hassle i listen to a lot of music on my PC but it would also be great for my Hue lights to sync also

What Audio does it have?..I use Asus Xonar DX sound card and Realtek on my 10 PCs.

My pc is 3 half years old got built from overclockers the reason i got it built cause everywhere selling PC's had windows 8 on and i know majority of people didn't like 8 i did get the free upgrade option to about year ago and never took up on it think ill have to go buy it

Look in Device Manager it will tell you the audio type, btw my old Samsung Laptop came with Win7 installed but it went through 8 to 10 upgrade just fine and that is about 5 or 6 years old.

Better security on 10, more features, longer life span especially with 7 coming to EOL.
I guess it's what you need it for. My gaming rig boots up and plays games, doesn't need extra features TBH.

Getting back on topic, the only way for him to find out is do the upgrade himself, does not take long nowadays.
That is all true and the rub of it is if you need features that are only available on W10 (or work better on them) then of course it's a good idea to give it a whirl.

For me the reality will be is if steamplay works really well by the time I upgrade then linux will be on it. If it's not then it will have to be W10 as it will be getting nearer to 2020.
