So, I'm seriously contemplating an upgrade from the original Vive to the Valve Index. Read lots of reviews, watched plenty of videos.

I would really like to try out the Valve Index HMD and controllers before buying, but where in the UK have this? I realise some Expo's might have it, along with a queue longer than I care to think about.

Ideas? Thoughts? Or just make the plunge with buying it?

If you can't find one closer, then you're welcome to try mine.

I swapped up from a Vive, visually alone it blows it away.

MOst of us just made the plunge. At least you're not starting from nothing having had the Vive before hand.
I went down the route of just the headset upgrade to keep the costs down and reuse the perfectly useable Vive controllers and lightstations.
It's a, full on, tangible upgrade but it does upset my 1080GPU a bit so maybe a new graphics card is in order...

Where in Chelmsford are you? I literally set mine up yesterday and only got about 90 minutes on it.

I've got:
Arizona Sunshine
Superhot VR
Beat Saber
Dirt 2.0
Project Cars 2.0

You're welcome to try it, though I might have to tell the wife you coming around to buy some PC hardware as she might not appreciate a total stranger coming around :D

So the general consensus is just to take the plunge... I both like and dislike this option hah!

I actually now live in Braintree, but still work in Chelmsford near the Multi-Storey car park, so I'm still local.

I took the plunge this morning actually. Existing vive owner waiting for black Friday massive index price cut. Never mind - so placed my order in the last 30 mins. Went for the HMD and controllers package. wife getting it for me for Christmas

I ordered my Valve Index on Tuesday to allow for the 4 to 8 days delivery mentioned on the site. I tried to tie it to arrive next week as i'm not at work.

I got an email from Royal Mail yesterday (Thurs) that I had a scheduled for today (Friday). I changed delivery on the delivery link email to delay it to "next business day" which hopefully means it will get delivered on Monday.

I thought sod the price and just went for it :-). I'm currently playing Elite Dangerous so I'm quite looking forward to see how it changes the experience.

Welcome to the Index :)
Oh, and I'm watching this thread so I can predict the news story of internet strangers killing one another.. I watch too many movies :(

Have you played Elite in VR at all yet? Even on the Vive it looks incredible and the sense of scale and depth perception is just awesome. I guess with the Index the clarity will just make it a million times better.

Adding voice attack will be a game changer. I'm hoping it can be set up to use the Valve Index mic

Just found out I can upgrade my Vive headset only for the Index... Going by this thread the Index is a huge improvement over the Vive, but I'm unsure if I should be considering the Vive Pro.

OG Vive owner, purchased the Index and controllers today, been on the fence about doing so but getting HL for free pushed me over the edge.
