Hi,

I have an original 64bit retail Windows 7 and ive always had propblems putting it on when ive had to wipe the pc (sometimes hangs at 0% , sometimes 21% and it can be there for 30 mins or more.

Anyway , today ive installed another 1tb hard drive as a backup for pics and stuff and i wiped the pc's main hard drive (also a 1tb hd) and will it heck go past 0% now. I dont have to do the master slave thing with sata II do i as its on sata 1 as main and sata 2 as backup hd.

Also , ive heard that it can be because the hd driver isnt installed as to why the windows 7 can sometimes freeze at sill y%'s

Ive searched high and low for the Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache driver and can i heck find it. Do you think this is the problem??
 
I have installed that OS on that HDD without any requirement for an extra driver. I would suspect another problem with your system.

Is the disk clean and unscratched? Also, what are the specs of your PC? Is it overclocked and has it worked correctly in its current configuration before (with a different OS/HDD)?
 
its an intel i5 "4ghz , ive tried it overclocked and at stock and it makes no difference. its an asus p7p55d pro mb and 4gb ram so plenty fast enough. it has gone on before after a few struggles but now after adding my second hd theres no movement off 0% at all
 
Did you let the installer format the drive?

I remember mine freezing when I installed the RC, I was forgetting a check box or option somewhere to format the hard drive when I was installing it. After that it went smoothly.

Was a while ago now and can't fully remember the steps though.
 
I would suspect your Windows 7 disk is damaged. Windows 7 is the most complete with drivers ever!
You could try putting the OS on a USB stick and installing from that for which an ISO is needed
 
Dont know if it has changed but my Asus board always need the the sata contoller floppy disk by hitting F6 on the beginning of the setup process
 
I would try giving the disk a clean ( a lint free cloth and some breath on the disk should do the trick). I remember having a similar problem with a vista install and a good clean of the disk sorted it out.
 
It certainly sounds like an issue with the Windows DVD and not the new HDD. The drive doesn't need any driver to install and use and there is no master / slave requirements with SATA. You can optionally install a driver for your particular HDD controller e.g. Intel but there is no driver specific to your HDD. If you are unconvinced you could try installing Windows without the drive present and if that works, power down and attach the drive and see if you can still boot.

I've had similar issue myself with backup copies of the Windows DVD, and plan to install from USB drive next time so that I'm not using the original each time. If it is the disc you should be able to obtain a replacement easily enough, or borrow one and provided it's the same version of Windows i.e. 32/64-bit, home, pro, retail, oem etc it should accept your key code.
