Urgent help with 1st build.!

Right guys I have the 24pin mobo one in, 8 pin cpu and the 6 + 2 pin into graphics and its on. However when I add the 6 pin to the card it wont turn on :S

Ok, if it's booting then next you need to turn the whole thing off and plug your drives in. And grab Windows or whatever OS you're using. Once the drives are plugged in, put the OS disk in the CD drive and go into the BIOS. Change the boot order so it boots off CD first, and make sure your primary (ie intending to install OS on) HDD is the secondary boot device. Then save settings and reboot. The PC should then boot and then start the OS install process. If you've got Windows 7 it's a piece of cake :)

Once Windows is installed, install the drivers for your motherboard from the mobo CD and any other drivers you need, e.g. Nvidia drivers for the graphics card, and you're ready to go! :)

Ok, that's very strange. Do you have another 6-pin lead you can try?

well that's bs then - either your graphics card is faulty, or your psu isn't providing enough power.

do you have spares for either?

Right well ermm Ill do what reflux says first and then find out for you bud its possible that it is faulty and is running off of the onboard i guess its the i5 2500 k ?

Right plugged everything in now and its working atm hehe ill keep you posted soon :) including the 6 pin in gpu :)

Right guys when i turn on the machine and hit delete to enter bios it comes up with efi shell version 2.00 and wont let me progress. Any ideas ?

there should be a graphical user interface on an efi bios - so that doesn't make much sense to me.

you want to be using it to check your temps and set boot priority to get windows installed.
