So looks like all of us will be paying even more for our parts in the UK,as they will no doubt cause companies to jack up Rest of the World prices to minimise the impact on US pricing:

Over the past year, the US Trade Representative (USTR) has delayed restoring the Trump-era tariffs, which added a 25% duty on affected Chinese goods. The goal was to gather feedback from the industry and consider modifications as trade associations lobbied the White House to end the tariffs, citing the costs.

But on Wednesday, the USTR issued a notice, saying it had recommended to the White House that the “tariffs on covered products be maintained.” On Thursday, a spokesperson for USTR then told PCMag: “We are maintaining tariffs on products currently subject to the action, including the two tariffs you’ve inquired about.”

Those tariffs use the codes 8473.30.1180 and 8473.30.5100 and cover graphics cards, motherboards, and desktop PC cases. Other components previously covered under the Trump-era tariffs include trackpad units valued at over $100 and power supply units that output more than 500 watts.

The tariffs are designed to punish China for unfair trade policies and alleged intellectual property theft.

Surely it will punish the buyers as it will be them that will have to pay this extra cost

As i really can't see the sellers going ok we foot the tariff and loose 25% on each item sold

They are just enabling further price increases to help their corporate chums, who can justify Global price increases. It will take years to move a lot of the infrastructure outside China. But it doesn't affect them, because they are all millionaires.

The stuff coming from China must have like a huge mark up (something like 500% atleast), it always does so companies could show us customers so loyalty and not even put tue prices up. Loyalty haha dream world I know.

Non-issue in any case. Hey, my name is Jensen and I'd like an exemption 'cos stuff. US govn: okay.

US Won't Impose Tariffs on Graphics Cards & Motherboards From China for Another Year

The US Trade Representative will exempt graphics cards from the Trump-era tariffs to give companies more time to shift manufacturing away from China.

Looks like Tetras was correct :D

Why just computer parts? why not just all tech made in china ?

Have to wonder why GPU's are exempt for now but not MB ect given their stated reason! Guess someone got a nice bonus in their bank account ;)

reports suggest its just a bragaining chip for trump, remote chance of being actually implemented
Wouldn't be too sure, he seems determined to get manufacturing back in the US and it's too big of a market to ignore.

Regardless the tariffs are for the US not here, and if it causes demand to fall from the US then the simple law of supply and demand means lower prices for us.

Also if they are being announced at CES which is on the 7th-10th Jan there are a full 10 days before Trump is sworn in to throw your money at Jensen.
